I'm a wrestling fan and if you ever saw Benoit so some of the stuff he did you'd realize the guy was an athlete. I saw him do one of his diving headbutts off a 15 foot steel cage. Anybody that does a swan dive from 15 feet and hits anything but water had a set of big brass ones in my book.

Why the kid. I mean if you have beef with someone its still totally wrong to kill them, but why do you got a go and kill a 7 year old kid? Really.

Sadly this is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Anyone who knows anything about pro wrestling knows that Benoit was one of the best in-ring wrestlers of all time. This is just tragic. A murder-suicide but no gun shots?

The list of pro wrestlers who have died young in recent years (O. Hart, Rude, Pillman, Hennig, Eddie G.) is just mind boggling.

I agree with all of you guys. I was huge into pro wrestling when I was in 8th grade, then it died off for a while until my girlfriend got me back into it. Granted that this sport is pure fabrication, the athleticism and entertainment these guys provide is phenomenal.

I heard about this a couple of hours ago and I still can't believe it. I remember watching Benoit years ago in the old WCW as a member of the 4 Horsemen with Ric Flair, Mongo McMichael and Arn Anderson. He was so much fun to watch. No gimmicks, no talk, just smash-mouth intensity, balls-to-the-wall all the time.

I know he was pulled from the card at Vengenace here in Houston last night, citing "Family Emergency" I heard his wife was throwing up blood, but there's no confirmation on that. There were no gunshot wounds and no stab wounds on the bodies, but the "instruments of death were found on the scene."

Depressing.

I heard that on RAW tonight as well. This actually makes me wonder if there was a poisoning to get the whole family together. Either way, Benoit is one of the few that had the respect and admiration of the entire WWE/WWF/WCW wrestlers and fans.

So from reading various news sources...the three bodies were all found in different rooms of the house. As of now, they think Benoit killed his family over the weekend and himself today.

Personally, something about that rubs me wrong. It doesn't smell right that a person would kill their family, leave them for a day, then finish himself. You'd think it'd be all at once. I think his family died of something like CO poisoning over the weekend, and he came home and OD'd from the tragedy.

We'll find out when the autopsy comes back, but I really hope he's not a murderer.

I was very suprised when I turned RAW on and found out Benoit was dead and so was his family. It will interesting to see what comes out of this whole mess. Terrible loss, Benoit was always a great entertainer and always seemed to be a good guy.

When I first heard this story, I immediately thought it was CO poisoning. To be honest, I think the Benoit murder-suicide scoop is of the same ilk as Phil Hartman's death.

I find it hard to believe that Chris would kill his own kid. He always seemed like a pretty gentle guy outside of the ring.

I can clearly remember the goodbye he gave to Eddie Guerrero at the show after Eddie died. Tough to believe that that guy would do something like this.

Reports are out that Chris had been called back to Georgia, and that's what caused him to scratch his appearance at the PPV. Could have been that the wife was telling him that she was leaving him. I suppose this is all speculation at this point. I just hope there was something left by one of them to explain what happened, unlike with what happened to the great Phil Hartman.

Tragic, any way you look at it.

The story on WWE.com reports that:

"Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family."

To me, that sounds like maybe depression. Not that I have a clue what I'm talking about. I'd like to think that this wasn't premeditated or anything like that, but if the report is true that he killed them over the weekend and didn't kill himself until Monday, it's hard to put a positive spin on that.

A couple quotes I have read are bothering me. One is from the link I posted in the previous message.

"WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time."

The other is from the ESPN.com story.

"The details, when they come out are going to prove a little bizarre," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard, according to The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

This is almost surreal. I'm having a hard time comprehending this. Completely in shock.

The story keeps getting stranger...

"Sources in the Fayette County Police Department are working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, son Daniel on Sunday, and then killed himself on Monday. The Wrestling Observer reported that it is believed that Chris Benoit's two other children were in Canada.
Benoit was found dead in his weight room. Nancy was found dead in the living room. Daniel was found dead in his bedroom, according to an unnamed source in the department."

That seems like a strange theory, not to say it isn't right. Generally doesn't it happen where the guy will kill everybody one after another and them himself right afterwards? I'm not expert on these things but that seems really strange that a guy would kill his wife, with their kid home, then kill the kid a day later while he leaves the body in the front room. Then he waits another day to kill himself? That just doesn't add up in my book.
