It's possible college basketball might move opening day to a Tuesday, instead of a Friday, and seems to make sense, because it doesn't compete head-to-head w/ NFL and CFB. But does football still overshadow the sport too much prior to February?

Here's one take:

ESPN O'Neil: Altering start of season won't solve all of CBB's issues

Parrish wrote piece on the topic the other day, but it addressed only the positive logic of the season-start change.

To add my 2 cents. The concept of starting on a Tuesday seems like a no-brainer, but I'm not sure the impact is more than minimal either way. College basketball has diehard fans who will choose it over CFB or NFL even in November and December (or at least might choose it in equal measure). Football-leaning fans won't be swayed regardless, and casual fans won't tune in until February and March.
