Has he been seeking compensation for players as well?

I did a little looking around and his dad has been mentioned for Texas State's opening. Maybe he would go with his dad or he could be picked for that job rather than his dad.

I forgot about this article from August. This is the likely answer.

That seems pretty ticky-tack to land a coach in hot water, especially considering that the seats were being sold to benefit the football team and could have been sold by simply donating them to the alumni association and having them sell them. Either he's getting a better job soon or there is some sort of Cam Newton fallout driving this.

Reading the comments, one poster said that there are several trustees down there that would prefer to eliminate the football program altogether, and that this incident merely helps the cause. That could be an explanation for him resigning as well, knowing that the program may not be the most stable going forward, regardless of how much success it has.

Or Franchione could be going to Kansas State along with his star QB Justin Tuggle. The KSU tight ends coach left in December.
