So, I was in KC for the semi final game against KU... After the game was over, I was waiting in line for the down escalator and a deplorable KU fan got in my face.

She was a soccer mom Karen Her kids were standing next to her) and she said " I am so glad we beat you.... I hate Caleb Grill and his family. We are from Grill's hometown and his whole family are the biggest bunch of a-holes in the city."

I said, "You truly hate a college kid because of his family? He's not even on the team anymore. That kinda harsh to literally hate a college kid."

She says, "There is one more younger kid in that family and I pray to God he never plays sports at the college level"

I said, "well that is your opinion. If I were you I would be more worried about the FBI being involved in your basketball program."

She says. "We'll get away with it. We always do."

I said (under my breath) "No wonder everyone hates you insufferable KU fans." I let it go at that point. Good riddance.
Well played! Both you and I would have wanted to speak up, and let her hear, your last thought there. But you held back. That must have taken some self control!

Yeah, I wanted to tell her more, but with kids standing nearby, I knew it would not be worth it.

Who are we trying to protect with transfer restrictions? Why have restrictions at all? I don't understand this.

Coaches? And maybe the players, to a degree - there are a lot of guys who enter the portal and don’t get picked up anywhere. I’m not sure, in the pay-over-the-table era, and annual unrestricted free agency is going to be good for anyone except blue bloods and the most elite players. There’s a reason pro leagues have contracts, salary limits, salary caps, and the draft.

Also, taking it to the logical(?) conclusion: why do we have eligibility limits? Who are we trying to protect? If Bacot can get paid more to play at UNC than elsewhere, why shouldn’t he be able to work towards his second Doctorate while playing ball?

Yes, this is a stupid hypothetical. But also fun to think about. Year 12 of Naz Long would be outstanding.

This board seems to place higher value judgements on our Ish and Caleb than I believe is warranted. But it will be interesting to see where they land.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ish on a NYC metro team like St. John's or Seaton Hall.

Caleb, well I don't know because he comes with baggage and there may be transfer issues given he's bounced around so much.
Ish Masoud is going to leave KSU? That surprises me. What’s the story?

I happened upon a KSU based podcast. Didn't say anything about a rift but was just speaking about skills and why he might transfer. Ish was basically a spot up shooter - a good one- but couldn't go get his own shot and couldn't defend well. Was subbed out a lot with the game on the line due to defensive deficiencies. KState has a lot of production coming back so he may just be leaving for a place where he will get more consistent playing time.
