I am assuming Bridget was not at the draft in person? Didn't see her but by the 2nd round ESPN kinda spent most of their time talking about Notre Dame so who knows. o_O

Yah, she had already made it known that she would not be in attendance. I wasn't surprised that Iowa's Megan didn't get drafted as early as the mock drafts had her. What little I saw of her, she didn't look like she could offer much more than 6 feet from the bucket, which won't work with the size she'll deal with in the WNBA. Bridget has a better chance of hanging around in the league with her assortment of talents, in my opinion.

Was curious how much WNBA players make so did a quick search. (from SwishAppeal.com) The first through fourth picks in the 2019 WNBA Draft will earn $53,537, the fifth through eighth picks will earn $49,539 and the ninth through 12th picks will earn $44,207. Second round picks will earn $42,570. Third round picks will earn the minimum of $41,965.

Surprised that the salary range from top to bottom is so small.

The arena they play in is in the Mohegan Sun casino.
I have seen that court. I was there on a business trip at the casino and peeked into the court. Very strange to see this small basketball arena in the middle of a casino complex.

Great. So cool for Bridget.

P.S. Is Connecticut known for its sun? Or is this the name of a sponsoring casino?

Hadn't really thought about this till last night and wondered where they played. I am used to the Lynx example where they are affiliated with the NBA Wolves (Glen Taylor owns both) and play in the Target Center. The Sun is owed by the tribe.

I didn’t see Alexa in the group picture that BF posted on his twitter. Has she been done with school and gone home? Or did I just miss her in the pic?

If you skip right to the forum like I usually do you might have missed Rob Gray's article on Carleton and the draft. So here's the linky

Going to be a busy month for her. Finish classes, take finals, sign pro contract and start camp with Sun. Season starts late May. Contracts aren't guaranteed and there is lots of competition, only 144 players in the league and the Lynx had six rookies in camp last spring along with some vets trying out, some on training camp contracts. Do expect Carleton to make the cut.

Here's hoping Bridget makes camp. Sun have 17 on roster. May 5 is training camp, and can only have 15 for camps.

The Sun's release almost no news. They hardly even had anything on their trade of Chiney Ogwumike (of course that trade was a little forced so they are not talking it up). Outside of tweets from the Sun there isn't much coverage of them out east unless they draft a Husky.

While trying to find something, anything, on the Sun I ran across this on the difficulty of making a roster. Only 144 slots and it's worldwide competition even with some stars opting out.

Camps opened yesterday. Final cuts are May 23.

Going to be tough to make the final roster.

From article on Sun's camp.

Not everyone was on hand. Alyssa Thomas, Jasmine Thomas and Jonquel Jones were not in attendance. The three are due in camp on Tuesday.

“We got a look at a lot of really nice, young players and I think if an outside observer came in and watched today’s practice, they would go, this league needs expansion,” Miller said.
That’s because of that number, five will have to be cut.

The first cut comes on Tuesday when two will have to leave to make room for the returning three veterans.
