Iowa’s offense average 14 ppg if you take out defensive touchdowns and safeties.
Does it go even lower for field goals or TDs scored by the offense on short fields created by the defense? A lot of their scoring was that this past year too.

Just reviewed their game logs. In 13 games, they scored 109 points on drives that started on their side of the 50. So the offense scored 8.4 PPG when not gifted the ball on the opponent's side of the field. They scored 230 points total for the season so less than half came from sustained drives across midfield.

This is what should be tracked. See if a BF led offense can average even 13 PPG on sustained drives that cross midfield.

Worst offense I’ve ever seen in collegiate sports. Winning 8 games is a test amount to how good the defense and special teams were. Winning 8 games was a minor miracle.

Doesn't that contract scream we should have fired this guy but we've been taken hostage?
What do you expect when your Daddy draws it up, and then invites the AD and Brian to his office to tell them what he is doing? Goes to show who runs the athletic department at Iowa.

I have never heard of something like this being put in a coach's actual contract before. Seriously, has this ever happened before? Forget whether it's a low bar to clear, the fact that there's a bar at all should be the news.

Not exactly sure.
Kirk has done a great overall job with this program. I would think this would erode into the goodwill but honestly they have been gifted the second tier half of the Big10 conference and can win 7 games blindfolded. He could probably still make this happen.
How much goodwill does he need? He wants the HOF and needs to bump his winning percentage to 60 which he is an 11-3 type season from. He is juggling getting his kids on the gravy train along with making the HOF. Would be funny if BF is what keeps him from it. Would be karma.

I hate Gary Barta and anything Hawkeye, but I think this is a smart move on his part. He obviously can't fire Brain, but has structured this contract in a such a way that he'll have no choice. "Look Kirk, his contract says we have to let him go."

I'm a little surprised Kirk and Brain agreed to this. Unless there were some lawyers involved and failing results in another restructured contract. Which is quite possible.
