Can you guys start a new thread to have your silly roster arguments? Or maybe it's time to close this thread.

No biggie. I just think sometimes people get this idea that Fred was this unbelievable recruiter when in all reality he was good, but not great IMO. Fred's success was due more to his offensive scheme than anything IMO, and his ability to get along so well with his players.

Fred went after quite a few high profile recruits during his time here, but didn't land any of them. So if Prohm doesn't go out and get a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits, I wouldn't worry too much about it. That's all I'm saying.

I expect Prohm to successfully recruit four stars.

Way up there
I'm just opinion searching here. I didn't want to start a new thread.

Do you think Fred still keeps in contact with Niang or Morris, giving them advice on what they need to do to increase their draft stock? Or is Fred too focused on succeeding in the NBA now to really care?

Also, what's everyone's expectation for Nader this year? I don't recall him starting that much (if at all) last year. Many seem really happy penciling him in as a starter this year, but I just can't get over my apprehension for some reason
.

Lastly, I know Niang, Mckay, Morris and Long (if healthy) all start. Will Prohm go with Nader/Thomas/Cooke/Burton for that final spot? Will it depend on the hot hand? Will it just depend on the opponent or do you think Prohm will just say "F it, I'm going to dictate how our opponent plays us."

He outplayed Hogue the last few weeks of the season, averaged nearly as many rebounds as Hogue despite playing only half the minutes. I think he's going to be the most improved player on the roster and may lead us in rebounding.

Yeah, I do. The same source told be McKay would be good, Burton 'will' be good, Niang/Naz best guys who embrace Cyclonenation you ever want to meet, Minn. would't get Coffey if Fred stayed, Diallo/Yakwe were here as 2015's until the glitch of GA contact, plus ultimately Fred leaving. Those are just a few. I guess I have a lot of faith in their info. But bash away.

Grant it, I did say (AFTER a poster claimed we wouldn't miss a beat in 2016) that Jackson was no Monte and Ernst/Young/Carter no Niang/McKay/Nader. I think most that follow our team would agree with that, not a startling or negative comment. Meaning, that's no reflection on them, our players our staff could get after such a late transition. Fred's 2016 would have been iffy anyway, like another poster pointed out, especially when Matt A. departed & continual NBA rumors. To each his own, I guess. I realize most of you rather read the posts claiming we have a monster class, who we will beat every game and by how much because we're so much better, etc. Those same people that bash our players/staff when they don't win a particular game, or go 15-3 in the Big12. Disagree with you....I'm very positive and supportive of our staff and team because I don't put them on this high pedestal or ridicule them when they aren't perfect. But, yes, I tend to take a more realistic, reserved approach. Peace, brother.

Your source says our new guys won't be as good as a couple of all Americans and the conferences defensive player of the year? Damn. They must really be in the know to have that insider information. They also said Niang is one of the best ambassadors ISU could have?! ****, how do they get this big time info?! That's earth shattering. CW should write an article about that so we all can know! Maybe he can interview you for more insider info that will tell us things like this?

Damn. Got anything else for us? Anyone that the plebes don't know about?

I love how when 501 tells us something good is gonna happen, it's taken as gospel (because he's proven himself to be knowledgeable), but when he says something negative is gonna happen, everyone calls him out for being a ****.

Ugh, can't have one happy thread.

Sure you can. Just start a new one where the thread title actually matches the topic of discussion. As a matter of fact, CW just started a thread that would be a perfect match for this discussion.

Also, reading Jacksons stuff, Im about 99% sure he didn't come here if he wasn't sure that monte was out. We also have to remember, monte goal was to be a 1 and done.

Monte was never near a 1 and done type of player.

No need to be a jerk about it. It was just in response as if I ever talk to a source that has been positive about players, etc. And again, no where in my post did I say I agreed with the original comment. But I'm no different than many that have already posted on here, and that we need a couple of big pieces yet to sustain in 2016. (or maybe not, according to others).

Heck, I'm excited about Malou too! Contrary to what other posters connect the dots to. Other discussions can sure be attacked, bashed, or misleading to another further topic, etc. around here.

If one of you is running the "Mannyacs" Twitter account, can you stop it? It is weird and annoying at best and uber creepy at worst

Just responding in jest to your source. You came on and said your source said we're going to be bad in 2016. Then your proof that your source is quality is that they said our new people won't be as good as Niang/Morris/McKay (duh, it's one of the best teams ISU has ever had in terms of talent) and that Niang and Naz are good ambassadors for ISU. I'm sorry if I'm not overwhelmed by the quality of the source. That's like saying "my source is close with a few doctors, and they say it's not good to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day while getting kicked in the nuts." Thanks, source, but I didn't need you to know that.

Monte also said he would go pro after his sophomore year, last I checked he's a junior and still here. Obviously he wants to go pro, that's pretty normal for basketball players to plan on being in tbe league.

Everyone knew McKay looked good and Burton looks good, that's why people were excited to get them. Your source isn't breaking any news.

There is no source that has seen enough of Malou, Jackson, Young and probably Carter as well.

Not to mention we can still add a difference maker or two between now and next November.

He said in the middle of his sophomore year he was coming back for his junior year for sure. I believe he thinks he is going pro after this year but nobody will know until the season plays out. He's young for his class so if his stock doesn't improve a lot he can come back for his senior year and it would only help him
