Exactly. Matt Thomas was about the 35 range when we signed him. Georges was in the 90 range then moved up after and Monte was pretty consistent in the 80 range if I remember correctly.

Small quibble.... I think Thomas was in the 55 range, not 35.

He was 54 on Scout, 51 on ESPN, 55 on 247,

No biggie. I just think sometimes people get this idea that Fred was this unbelievable recruiter when in all reality he was good, but not great IMO. Fred's success was due more to his offensive scheme than anything IMO, and his ability to get along so well with his players.

Fred went after quite a few high profile recruits during his time here, but didn't land any of them. So if Prohm doesn't go out and get a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits, I wouldn't worry too much about it. That's all I'm saying.

I do think if fred had it in his mind to stay he would have landed a couple 5☆ recruits

3 of our starters were 4 stars. (Niang, Morris, McKay). We had two 4 stars on the bench and in the rotation. (Thomas and BDJ). Only players who played that weren't 4 stars were Long, Nader and Hogue. So 5-8 were.

Don't forget Custer that didn't play.... we had 6 four star players five in the rotation. Next year we will have 5 in the rotation. Pre- Hoiberg we never had more than 3 iirc.
Niang
McKay
Burton
Thomas
Morris

2016 we have
Morris
Thomas
Burton

I think both Malou and Jackson will be and possibly Young.

Great article. Very excited for him. We'll need him to be very productive for us, and it sounds like that's quite possible.

I also like hearing he's more of a SF.

Well that explains alot about abcd prep. Its almost like he would say something nice about his former coach then bash him in the same sentence lol

It sounds like the guy ran out of money. He probably didn't intend to do that to the kids, but was too ambitious for the infrastructure and funding needed to start up a prep school.

He sounds pretty mature about a bad situation. Even more pumped to see him in Ames.

Yes, the kid seems pretty level headed. Most kids in his situation would probably have washed out by now and ended up signing a crappy deal overseas.

Having Malou for only 1 year would be a great problem to have.

That's actually my article, I was about to post it haha. Yeah, for someone born in Kenya and raised in Australia, he had virtually no accent whatsoever. And the whole "bashing then complimenting" the coach, it was clear even over the phone he had something he really wanted to say when I asked him "Is there anything you'd want to tell Glendon?" but I was very impressed that he held back and just said "I probably shouldn't"
