Have him go to Autozone, pay $39 for a set of pads and tell him to drive to Waukee and I'll teach him how to do it. Only exception is if they were bad long enough to wreck the rotors and then he'd have to buy them as well. If it's only pads it takes about 30 minutes and that's taking a 10 minute break between sides.
If you go somewhere where they tell you they need to change the brake fluid as part of their fee, turn around and run away. Those that want to replace your rotors every time you change pads, turn around and run away. Brakes are one of the easiest jobs you can do to your vehicle, and most places charge $4-900 to replace the brakes are crooks. CarX is on my list of crooks as well, along with Tuffy's and a few others.
