Time for me to vent. I'm a lifelong Braves fan and it's great being in first place and cheering for clearly the best team in the league!

With that said, I am already done with BJ Upton and his short career with the Braves. I thought the Dan Uggla signing was bad (it is/was), but he looks like a triple crown candidate compared to what BJ has done so far this year.

BJ is hitting .146 (worst in MLB), with an OBP of .233 (has to be the worst in MLB), 4 HR's, and only 8 RBI's. Also he striking out every 2.53 at bats, which I'd be ok with if he would actually provide something at the plate. It's simply amazing how this guy was once the 2nd pick in the draft and how the Braves are paying him 13 million this year.

Alright I'm done venting

As a Twins fan I would feel bad for you, but your Braves are in 1st place, oh and the Twins traded away Matt Garza and Jason Bartlett to Tampa Bay for Delmon Young, 1st pick in the MLB draft.. Delmon Young.. Nuff said.. I'd take Upton any day of the week... At least he's in shape..

That's a tough trade.

I'd take Young this year versus Upton. About 12 million cheaper and getting on base more. But you are right, at least BJ Upton is in shape and plays defense pretty well.

You are silly for not being a cards fan.

I'd rather be a Hawkeye fan than a fan of the Cardinals......

Actually that's not even close to true, but I don't like the Cardinals.

You could have 5 B.J. Uptons on the Braves and still win the division with their pitching.

Yes! Get the hometown boy back in Atlanta!

When Jeff batted .300 with 14 HR's in 70 games as a rookie I thought he was the next stud. Unfortunately it just never happened.

As a die hard Nationals fan, I have zero sympathy for you.

How's a guy living in Austin become a diehard Nats fan, if you don't mind my asking?

I've been following the Nats since I moved to DC, so I've seen about 4x more lean years than good ones, but I'll admit that they're a heck of a lot more fun to watch now that they're a winner.

They are a fun team to watch. Good pitching and nice young talent. A team that will scare me for a long time.

I grew up an Expos fan, (had family through marriage that played for them in the 80s and 90s. Tim Wallach, 3rd baseman. When the Expos split in 04, I made the switch to the Nationals.

While we're complaining about Braves... let's not forget how bad Heyward has been. If it weren't for Justin Upton, Freddie Freeman, Brian McCann, and most importantly - EVAN GATTIS. We'd be screwed.

Seriously though, Brian Beachy can't get back enough. "We" have pretty solid pitching all the way through, but nobody is super stellar... and with the injuries to the 'pen... we could use Beachy and his ~7 strong innings again.
