As opposed to grabbing onto one stat and saying he is a horrible player? What kind of logic is that at well? He is a Fr who averaged 11 and 5 while shooting 41% from 3 and 54% eFG. He is bad defensively, I can't/won't argue that because he is. Overall though when you have that low of rated recruit come in and do what he did, that is a successful Fr season.

Did I grab onto one stat and say he's a horrible player? If I did, please quote the post.
I think he's a below average overall player. He shot surprisingly well from three. Good for him. I think his defensive deficiencies and one dimensional offensive game make him below average overall.

That is a pretty bold prediction.

Not that it's much different than most years when Hawk fans have predicted our demise, but they better hope we stink next year. Next year is the year they've been pointing to the last two seasons that we wouldn't make the tournament.

Tell me how the programs that took a step back this past year are on the rise. The Iowa football program is a good program, but have never proven the ability to take the next step forward. What has Fran done with the basketball program? All he has really done is recruited the state well, filled his roster with lifetime Iowa fans and legacy players and made that program a little better than average.

Iowa has never taken the next step forward in football? So you don't think playing for a confernce title is a step forward? You don't think going to BCS bowl games is a step forward? Top 10 teams do those things, those are steps forward. I'm not going to sit here and sell some crap that Iowa is a top 10 program and the next step forward is national stiles, because this isn't what Iowa is. Iowa is a 8 win programs that does take the next step
Forward every 3-4 years to the top 10 level.

Yes @CyTwins the Hawks have 2 top 10 finishes in the last 8 years. They had 3 top 10 finishes the previous 8 years before that.

Only if the Hawk fan was an idiot would they say those things. ISU had alot Returning this year, they were always going to be a NCAA team.

Why stop at 7 years? They have a top 10 finish in the last 2 years and 2 in the last 8 and 5 in the last 16. That is pretty impressive.

This is a basketball thread. How do you think the Wisconsin Hawkeyes, Purdue Hawkeyes and Michigan Hawkeyes do in the Sweet 16?

I think the Kansas Clones will win this games easily.

Better question is are you mad at Prohm for that first half? I was watching the game thinking, WTF is Prohm doing here. As I pointed out ISU was such a mismatch for Purdue. Draw the Purdue bigs to the perimeter and they can't match up with ISU. Prohm wasted a whole half trying to play Purdues game, it baffled me. Then in the second half when ISU spaced Purdue's bigs, bang, ISU dominated that game.

It's hard to have a serious discussion with a fan of a program that doesn't even have any skin in the NCAA tourney game.

They are a good program, they have never taken that to an elite status, that is the next step. They are not contending for Big 10 titles year in year out.

I said the Purdue wasn't going to be able to match up with ISU's perimeter guys before the game ever took place.

I watched Michigan dismantle Purdue the same Way, that was the blueprint and even a dolt of an Iowa fan like me understood this. It worked to perfection in the 2nd half, why did It take a whole half to do what everyone knows should have been the game plan from the beginning?

ISU had good looks the first half and they were not falling. At the same time Purdue had shots falling. That was a big part of what went wrong in the first half.

Where did I ever say Iowa was Elite? Elite programs contend for a title ever year and that isn't what Iowa is. Iowa is a good 8 win program that takes a step forward every 3-4 years and earns a BCS bowl birth.
