Wonder how much Zenger's replacement is going to make.

Overall, it's absurd what these dudes are paid. TxT must relish putting that kind of dough out for our ex-linebacker. Good lord. The definition of a financial bubble.

I wonder how those figures compare to average income/cost of living in their respective campus communities. I look at Pollard and immediately think “he probably deserves a raise” but $860K in Ames goes a long way. $1.5 million in Lubbock seems ludicrous, whereas $1.4 million in Austin could almost be viewed as a bargain.

JP has definitely moved the AD along quite a ways. Would like it if we could get into that mid 30s range for revenue. I know, I know, I could donate more but I’m not the kind of guy who can move that needle

Surly, this might be the first time you've posted something where KSU isn't at the top. Good on ya.

Jamie, makes pretty good money, but it's hard to complain with the way he has brought the athletic department along.

Don’t know much about Techs inner workings, but I think Hocutt is pretty widely respected.

As far as hires, Kliff looks like he could flame out, but still seems to be beloved by the fans. Beard appears to be a home run.

I think JP is getting exactly what he should be getting. When factoring in cost of living, he's probably top 2 or 3.

If anything, maybe add in an incentive bonus of some kind, but his salary is dead on IMO.

Kliff would have been gone after last season but a big time donor who played with him wanted him to finish out his contract is what I was told.

Regarding cost of living, the median home price in all the Big 12 public university towns are just shy of $200k except for Austin, which is $346k according to Zillow. Outside of housing, cost of living usually isn't that different as regional differences often offset and average close to zero. For example AC costs more in TX but then they have much lower heating bills.

That is definitely an outlier. I read hints that some of their higher profile hires, Tommy Tubberville and Tubby Smith, left in part due to their spouses failing to make the adjustment to west Texas living. I've never been there, but I assume that understates what those coaches were facing on the home front. Is it possible they need to overpay in order to keep a lid on turnover?

Actually he posted it and immediately turned it into golf scores with his comment that they are all overpaid trying to say that KSU's low balling is doing it the right way.

I suspect there are lots of people here who run $100 million operations making nothing close to what these guys get. That was the whole point of posting the numbers which came from the Lawrence paper. Naturally, they'll have to pay a ton to get anyone with a pulse willing to report to Bill Self, which only exacerbates the situation. These salaries are a reflection of an industry living in a financial bubble.

Maybe it's an offset for covering haboob insurance?
