One thing that cracks me up about Barnes is his jersey number. He is 41. They don’t give number 41 to someone they think will see the field. Barnes and Goodwin have shown they are not afraid. Really impressive

Can anyone confirm that Goodwin is definitely a walk-on? Wasn't sure where to find that info. If so, it's just another part of an impressive narrative. Seem like he can play.

He has excellent technique on how to get off a block and contain. Great hands. Watched him chuck a couple blockers like rag dolls last night.

Shout out to him. Only other offer was South Dakota State, the kid had himself a game tonight. This staff continues to find hidden gems. Beau is from Kingsley, Iowa. Per Wikipedia, "Kingsley is a city in Plymouth County, Iowa, United States, which is located within Garfield Township. The population was 1,396 at the time of the 2020 census. The city was originally known as the village Quorn, which was founded by two brothers, Frederick and William B. Close."

Shout out to any Clones in Kinglsey, Iowa tonight.

Kingsley is also where Ryan Grubb, now Seahawks OC is from. He was the UDub OC, spent one week at Bama joining his mentor as Bama OC before being offered and accepting the Seahawk job. He played for BV in Storm Lake.

Beau was asked to describe the victory. He said it was a "Good win"

Credit to Campbell and staff laying the groundwork with Iowa high school coaches. Those high school coaches trust our staff that when they have a guy that may not be on the national radar they can give our staff a heads up and say hey you should look at this guy.

Godwin and Barnes definitely look like they belong on a Big 12 football field. There is talent in the state!

I was as impressed with Goodwin 34 last night as anyone. He really covers a lot of ground and tackles for loss are drive killers, he had two of them. I think he's a future starter and quite a bit better than some of the older guys. Sadowski seems to struggle moving laterally across the field.

We do need McClaughlin and Brezina to get healthier for home stretch, but these guys are getting it done!

By end of the year, there is a good chance that you won’t see any of the guys (outside of Ebel) who finished the game play much if at all. Next year it could be special teams.

McLaughlin. And I wouldn’t expect him to be back before December, if then.

Popped in here to say that the real difference between Brezina and Goodwin isn’t where they’re from, but the fact that Brezina early enrolled, and has been in the program (including S&C) six months longer.

One more game. Against a team that is kind of a poor man’s wv on offense. I suspect we are going to start seeing guys coming back after the bye.

I'm not sure about that. Obviously they're are 2nd/3rd string for a reason, but coaches aren't infallible when it comes to depth chart and PT. Barnes and Goodwin flashed last night more than Sadowsky did all of last season. Ebel looks the part more than the young guys, but he wasn't our best LB last night. If they keep playing like they did last night, it's going to be hard to keep them off the field. At the least, along with Brezina, we might finally have some players at LB. We've been missing that since Rose graduated.
