By the way, I live 4 hours away (in another state) and I looked at the thread title and I immediately thought "I wonder if it is a teacher". That was before I read the OP and saw it was Legends!

I live 7 hours (and 2 states) away. I didn't wonder if the OP was a teacher, but I did feel bad momentarily knowing that I wasn't going to be the first one making a teacher joke. I do admit an advantage know it was at Legends as I saw that when I moused over the thread link.

I'm not a teacher. I have taught and will teach at the college level, but that is not my full time job.

I really didn't think you were, it just seemed to beg the response the way you qualified it when you said you weren't a teacher...

I went to a brewery out in West Des Moines called Rock Bottom. After I was done eating they brought me a bill and charged me .98 cents on me and my wifes Cherry Cokes and told us they charged us for the Cherry. No joke.

Rock Bottom is a national chain. They charge for grenadine nationwide. Hickory Park does the same thing, although they obviously have more options for their flavored sodas. It's not unheard of, since grenadine costs them money.

I cant say ive ever heard of grenadine being an additional charge.

Being married to a woman whose favorite drink is diet coke with grenadine, I can say with confidence that some restaurants do indeed charge for it. Not the majority by any means, but a substantial minority do. Usually it's a pretty small charge, but it's still there.

I used to travel a ton for work, and I've seen it several times in other areas. Not so common here, but I'm guessing it's because Rock Bottom is national and adhering to the chain standard.
