I live two and a half freakin' hours away - how the hell am I supposed to know what goes on in the daily lives of Des Moines residents?
I have told the GF for years about how terrible of service I've had at Legends and how bad the food is. I've done my personal boycott before those teachers ever thought about opening a textbook.
Anyway she was at a bachelorette party and they had given plenty of notice to Legends and got that "skybox" room at the campus town location reserved to them. Apparently after drink orders it took 40 minutes to get them. Also, one waitress to take orders for 15 women? She said it was a bad experience to go to Legends.....again.

I'm a former waitress/bartender myself, and I too tend to be more critical of service staff. Been there, done that - know what it takes to make it work.
You weren't out of line by not tipping, nor out of line by writing a note with an explanation. Restaurants (and any other business for that matter) can't correct problems if they don't know about them.
Your experience with Legends is similar to mine ... if you're served in a timely manner, then the order is usually wrong. Hey - probelms happen and everyone deserves a second chance, but when they happen more often than not I take my business elsewhere.

The Legends owner killing a teacher in cold blood at the downtown restaurant didn't seem a little weird to you? You didn't think you would hear about this type of story living 180 miles away?
And as they pertained to something in Central Iowa and nothing to do with my life I likely ignored it...
Not really, considering I've lived in Davenport the majority of my life, and we have many stories such as the following, not much surprises me...

I have never had anything but outstanding food and service at the Legends in Johnston.
However, In the last three days......
the IRS has ****** me off
I had bad service at an Ames Chiropracter (not the Dr., his nasty receptionist)
I'm really annoyed by a local lawn irrigation company that is trying to capitalize on what appears to be an area monopoly.
at no point did I consider going to an open forum to cry about it...........
I guess until now....

The Legends downtown is understaffed almost always, same way with Johnnys HOF.

I live 5 and a half hours away from DSM (and 2 states) and wondered if she was a teacher...I have found there is too many references that hit the other threads from the off topic if I don't stay on top of them.
Hum - I didn't think I was crying. Just telling you about my experience.

By the way, I live 4 hours away (in another state) and I looked at the thread title and I immediately thought "I wonder if it is a teacher". That was before I read the OP and saw it was Legends!
I'm not a teacher. I have taught and will teach at the college level, but that is not my full time job.
