I'm looking to switch from Mediacom as our bill as gone up once again, but I don't think I can switch to a dish in my apartment, so my only option looks like ImOn.

Anyone had any experience with them?

I know several people that have them, but what I know is they don't have 24/7 technical support (closed nights and weekends for the internet portion atleast not sure if same holds true for TV or Phone support)
Their internet is slower with less flexibility then mediacom(by the I mean they don't allow you to free change the device which is connected to the modem this holds true for their cable and DSL service. If you want to change the device connected you need to contact their technical support)
Can't offer much about their phone or TV offerings but I know they have the BTN.

I have ImOn and have had nothing but POSITIVE experiences with them! I am not affiliated with ImOn in any way either. I have thier high-speed internet (and have switched devices/computers often without a phone call too), home phone and a HD cable package. Cheaper than mediacom. The few times I have had to contact customer service I have always come away impressed. I would never go back to mediacom. I have had ImOn (previously McLeod) for three years. Very satisfied! That is true that they don't have extended hours for technical assistance but I haven't needed it! I would reccommend ImOn if you live in Cedar Rapids.

Which high speed service do you have? Maybe it is just cable internet and not dsl. But I know from personal experience that it is required. I have been in numerous homes with their service to install a wireless network or put in a new computer for someone, and have to call to get the new device working. Luckily I have a good friend that does internet tech support for ImOn so I can call him on his cell phone to speed to process up sometimes lol.

Correct if I am wrong, but state law says that an apartment complex can not deny you satellite tv. The one thing to keep in mind is that the dish needs a clear shot to the south to pick up the signal. If you were to call a satellite provider, they will find a way to connect the dish so as to not destroy any part of the apartment building. Worth looking into.

That is a good friend to have for sure! I was told just to unplug the modem for 2 minutes and then plug it back in...always worked for me? Anyway, I have the 5MB cable internet plan...

Does anyone that currently uses ImOn have any info on whether or not they have any plans to expand into Hiawatha soon? We currently use CenturyLink for internet, and while it is decent, I have heard and seen good things about ImOn's speeds and consistency.

My father has Imon ... I'm not a fan as I think it is slow (I don't know his speed). I use MediaCom (work from home) and am satisfied with the speed, reliability and the service. Pricing is better too.

What speed do you have for Century Link?

I'm assuming you're too far north in CR, but I can get SouthSlope fiber at my house south of hwy 30 and it's REALLY nice.

They must, because they just dug up my backyard killing about 100 sq feet of grass. Now they won't take my calls about sending someone out to resod / repair the area.

I got home one day with a new box put in the yard with a pile of my grass laying there. They must have used a sod cutter and didn't put the grass back when they were done.

Mediacom has a better product for both cable tv and internet. Better technology, higher speeds, better interface. The only area ImOn has a chance in is customer service... which is not 24/7 for ImOn so they probably can't even win that.

Still, I'd switch back to ImOn if I got a good enough deal.
