Why? He's said adamantly he wants to defend Ames' state title...

Isn't he already taking classes that will transfer into college?

He wants to finish out his senior year at AHS. And yes, he has credits (AP) that will transfer to college. I have heard from several people on this site that Barnes' plan is to go to school and get his degree in 3 years. He is more than capable of that it seems.

Why anyone would want to miss out on senior year of high school is beyond me. I can understand a little with football and being able to practice with the team earlier... but to be frank my senior year in high school - especially the last semester - was some of the best time I've had in my short life time.

I feel bad for kids that do that. It may sound great but you are only a kid once. Do it as long as you can.

I think living in Ames he could do both. Take a few classes at ISU and then continue at Ames High to get his state title as well.

Bingo! (except he would be taking those classes as a high school student, not an ISU enrollee) It's the reason I believe (hope) he'll stay home.

Here's some info on how it works:

Ames Community School District - Ames High School Registrar Post - Secoundary Options

This would make it much easier for him to graduate in three.
