You don't transfer "just because." There's always a reason

The reason might be that you're teammates suck and you don't and you're tired of losing. That's not baggage, that's an under recruited player that deserves a better team. Or they move down a level because they want more PT. that's not baggage.

Looks like he was averaging 17 minutes a game as a sophomore on a pretty decent team...don't think a lack of playing time was the issue.

I'm sure this kid has talent, but he's also shooting like **** this year. 29.7% FG? 18.8% 3 point? 56% FT? I don't know...as a wing player that's kind of low for a high major college team.

Is he more of a defensive specialist?

yes, he is one of MSU's best defensive players. Losing Babb next year, ISU doesn't have a defensive stopper (Okoro maybe???). He'd fill that void. He needs to decide soon though if he wants to play next year 2nd semester like Maurice Jones is doing next year.

. "Maybe he thinks he's a 3-point shooter, I don't know. Maybe he thinks he's somebody else. Usually your role is what you can do, and if he thinks he can do that somewhere else, that what he should do because I don't want someone here who doesn't want to be here. I'm not excited about it." ... "

Izzo sounds a little butthurt from it...good.

prolly bad like lucious.

I've watched him several times and he can't even hold Lucious's jock, if that's any indication of his skill level. He left because he wasn't going to get much clock, once again, because he isn't very good. With the guards we have coming in and currently here, I don't see how this guy gets even the 17 mins per game he was getting at MSU.

I don't mind bringing transfers in if they are game changers.... like Royce White was.

But this kid seems very FAR from being a game changing kind of player IMO. In fact, chances are, he'd be an overall negative addition to the team if he's not a good teammate?

I just think you only should go the transfer route if you can bring in a stud. Otherwise, build your program with mostly HS players.

I know everyone hates Iowa being mentioned on here, but the psychotic Fran is building that program from the ground up, and it's beginning to show. Yes, Fred had earlier success than Fran, but I'm concerned that Iowa is going to be VERY good for quite a while now with what he's building. Iowa is an extremely young team. They only lose one meaningless player in May after this season.

I do think Fred is starting to build something though. Monte Morris, Matt Thomas, Clayton Custer for example. And we will have Ejim, Niang, and Gibson back too. So that's good news. I just don't think we should be running out and grabbing a very average looking transfer? Get a stud HS kid instead if possible IMO.

Different positions first of all, and Fred is obviously interested and Izzo isn't happy he is leaving so I would say the kid has talent.

We don't have a scholarship available, so if he were to enroll or the 2nd semester he would have to pay his own way.

We also don't have a scholarship available next year. I don't know if Fred is the kind of coach that will intentionally oversign and therefore require someone to leave.

If we lose someone for next year and a scholarship opens up, I'm betting Fred could find somebody better to fill the slot.

It seems we have players leave every year, so it wouldn't be surprising if it happened again.

The only possibility this year would have to be Okoro I would think though? SDW isn't going to transfer after using up his RS year.

He should be able to score more with Fred than Tom. We are a higher scoring team...we take three attempts all the the time... add one more gunslinger to the mix...sounds like he is fed up with BIG pace of the game. Lucky, he did not start out at Nebby.
