Well, looking back Pollard and crew did what I did not think would be entirely possible. They have united and excited the fanbase for football (and the entire university) with the hiring of Chizik.
Before yesterday I did not think it was possible for the hire to satisfy 99.99% of the fanbase. I don't have any inside info, but I would also guess that donations have increased and we will se a good season ticket sales. Maybe not a record, but it may be close to last years #.s
It is not only who he hired, but the way it was released to the public. The 'ol bait and switch tactic, but this time it wasn't at our expense. Everyone was ready to "settle" for Kelley, and instead we got pleasantly surprised by a name no one thought was possible.
Keeping a tight lip on Chizik accomplished multiple things. It probably kept Michigan State and others from coat-tailing us by pursuing him. It also built the suspense, which always makes the surprise better. Lastly, it prevented any tempering of the hire by preventing people from finding negatives about Chizik before the announcement.
