Did anyone else think (spoiler alert!) that Skye might actually die last night? I'm not surprised that she held on, at least for now, but I was surprised by just how far they took it to the brink.

On that note...holy violent episode Batman! Skye getting shot twice at point-blank range, Deathlok breaking necks left and right....it might be based on a line of comic books, but not exactly a kids' show, is it?

I thought she might die, but at the same time I was hoping something would happen. We still don't know why she's an 804 (? Is that the right number?)

So I was like five episods behind and caught up this week only because I was spending a lot of time on the couch holding our newborn daughter. Glad I didn't decide to just delete them, that show got a lot better.

People complained early, but in reality they were playing the long game to develop the show... its solid now. Just hope the show didnt lose too many viewers in the process.

Definate curve ball there. Though I am not crazy about them just making a character one way show 0 inkling that they are the other way. Most of the time that is a signal of bad writing as they are just pulling it out of their *** but ill play it out. Need to go see winter soldier now.

No, sir. The end of the show just hit you.
Spectacular episode. I'm planning to watch again in a few days.

I also went straight from the theater watching Captain America:winter soldier into tonight's AoS so i got a full dose of Marvel tonight, especially since the two tie in a ton with each other.

I wouldn't say there were zero signs. I had a hunch that the Garrett and Hand characters would play out like they did just because they were hamming it up to the opposite direction as much as they were.

I think there's another twist coming on that front. It wouldn't surprise me if Ward is a mole for Shield.

I agree. He feels like he has already killed an innocent so he now feels no remorse killing more innocents for the greater good.

It got better, but I still think the early complaints were valid. If they had done ANYTHING early on to develop the characters as anything other than bland good looking young people on a jet, it would have done a lot to help carry the show until the big plot kicked into gear.

Since we haven't seen the last of SHIELD/Hydra in the Marvel Universe, we haven't seen the last twist in this show. I have no way of knowing for sure, but never let it be said that I'll shy away from blatant wild speculation when information is lacking.

I think that Coulson did get in contact with Fury as they were leading Garret away. Hand was Hydra (she wasn't exactly squeeky clean in the comics), and Fury told Coulson. Coulson is planting Ward, because of his history with Garret, to take out Hand and infiltrate Hydra. My primary reason for thinking this is because, in the "next episode" blurbs at the end of the show, we hear Garret say "welcome to Hydra." We can assume that was to Ward. That means that Ward was not a Hydra member before the events at the end of tonight's episode. And Ward strikes me as way too smart to jump on Hydra's ship just as it's sinking. Not the smart play.

Even if that's not the case, I don't think Ward is now a bad guy. I think we are supposed to think he's a bad guy, just like we were supposed to think Skye was a bad guy real early in the season.
