2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees announced

A few days ago, the R&R HoF announced the next group up for consideration to be inducted. From the main article:

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation today announced a list of 14 Performer Nominees to be considered for 2025 Induction.

• Bad Company
• The Black Crowes
• Mariah Carey
• Chubby Checker
• Joe Cocker
• Billy Idol
• Joy Division/New Order
• Cyndi Lauper
• Maná
• Oasis
• Outkast
• Phish
• Soundgarden
• The White Stripes

Artists or bands become eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Among this year’s 14 Nominees, eight are appearing on the ballot for the first time: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast, and Phish.

“These remarkable Nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude, impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever-evolving sounds and continued growth of rock & roll”, said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

Nominee ballots will be distributed to an international voting panel composed of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The selection criteria include an artist’s impact on music culture, influence on other musicians that have followed, as well as the scope and longevity of their career and body of work.

The 2025 Performer Inductees will be revealed in late April, along with those Inductees entering the Hall under three special committee categories: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.

There are a lot of people/bands in the RARHOF that I would never have imagined. I almost wonder how you don't get in there if you've been around for > 25 years and were more than a 1 hit wonder.

Joe Cocker's performance at Woodstock has to be of the greatest moments in rock and roll history. Then there was the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. He's got my vote.

The Black Crowes back catalog is phenomenal and never gets the love it deserves. They were truly one of the great American rock and roll bands.

Which version ?? I saw them with Damn Yankees and they were pretty solid. Damn Yankees were way better though. Can’t remember which singer they had at the time

Outkast is not even rock. Neither is Mariah Carey. White Stipes only has one good song. A very simple song that anyone can play, but damn is it catchy..... So those 3 should not get in, but probably will anyways.

There are quite a few bands/artists in the Hall that are not rock. It's a joke.

The White Stripes have sooo many great songs. To each their own of course but if you like rock and roll, I don’t know how you’d hold that opinion.
