Brooks won't ever play at Georgia, he wouldn't have ever played at Iowa, he isnt good. And there's less than a 0% chance we flip Meyer
I said that he moved back to Georgia, not that he committed there.

I’m not an expert on OL recruiting, but I can recognize traits. The kid looks to be out of shape, and yet has extremely quick feet.

To me, that means that a lot depends on his work ethic. A lot of teams have up on Dom Orange his senior year who probably regret it now—because of his hard work and dedication once he got to Ames.

I don’t have a crystal ball to write off any kid as “bad”, so I’ll wish Nick the best wherever he ends up. The odd are very high it won’t be ISU.

There's a 0% chance he comes to ISU, he's not even considering ISU. He is out of shape and actually *doesnt* have quick feet at all, his feet are very slow. he dominates at the HS level because he's enormous

Just a quick thought, something I noticed that amused me.

Remember back in the day when we all celebrated when the average recruit ranking went over 85 on 247?

Well, right now the lowest ranked commit is at 85, in DL Bernard Carter. Oh, and just in case I’m misremembering, and the number we celebrated was 86…everyone else is an 86 or better.

The times, they are a changin’.

That probably won’t last when CMC brings in some unheralded seniors at the last minute come December—ala the ‘24 class—but it’s fun to look at now.

Right, @NATEizKING?

Cedar Rapids native Nick Brooks to Texas. Seems about right.

In an odd coincidence, the high school in Georgia he just went back to is James Neal’s alma mater.

As a complement to @Connor_Ferguson excellent piece on ‘26 recruiting, I’ll as this.

At the very end of the ‘24 Cyning Class, CMC & Co landed five guys based on their senior seasons. Two of those were Iowa kids, Beau Goodwin and Garret Rutledge—and the latter was who CMC was highest on of all.

Now, I don’t have a crystal ball to know who will bust out as a senior, but I can refer you to 247’s full instate list. In the 11-20 range, looking closely, it’s not hard to pick out a couple of guys who just might pop. See for yourself.

Tune back in December.

Breaking news over the next few days as it concerns football recruiting will be something like:

"Three kickers, all rated as 4-5 star have taken Iowa State off of their list of schools they want to play for."

Great job by the Konrady kid.

We weren’t recruiting any more kickers. They’ve known what they had since last season.

So who are we still recruiting that Iowa had in as visitors for the game this weekend?
I can’t claim to pay much attention to Iowa recruiting. At a glance, I think they had a safety visit that we offered this June—but pretty sure we’re full on safeties now.

The rest of their visitors I saw seemed to be from California, for some reason—and most of those for hoops.

Again, didn’t look close.

Correction. Apparently ‘27 WR recruit Landon Blum was in attendance. I didn’t look far enough.

I suspect we made a good impression.

Question to some of the old heads around here. Are we getting more local kids with Iowa offers than we ever have? Few of our guys in this list also have squak offers. To be fair, they’re mainly in positions that ISU has been better with like QB and WR.

Even on the team now, Ebel is an example of a guy that definitely seems like he woulda been at Iowa. Anyone notice this thing shifting or has it always been like this?

For a while now, the two staffs haven’t really been offering some of the same players. In some cases by either staff, it’s because it’s a waste of time. In other cases, they just aren’t a good fit.

Last year Iowa got a couple of offensive players we offered because they had a crying need, and immediate PT available.

In lots of cases, the player is sitting in what is clearly Iowa or ISU territory (the latter is rising), or has a strong connection with an ISU coach (Tompkins). So, why bother?

Iowa already landed the first mutual offer in the ‘26 class, the tackle from Waterloo.
