Probably trying to get one more play in.
Otherwise I honestly wonder if there's too many chefs in the kitchen for a few of these teams/programs and everyone's got an idea so they over think it and pick the least logical way to go.
It was 3rd down with over 10 seconds on the clock. Call a play for outside routes only and get a closer kick. Or throw it away and kick it. It's not very moronic.
Don’t feel bad at all. Been a Chiefs fan since the late 80s. Between failing every year in the playoffs under Schottenheimer and finally making the AFC championship game with Montana in 1993. Between that run in 93 until Mohomes first season starting in 2018 and losing to Brady in the AFC championship game the Chiefs won 1 playoff game. Sometimes as the best record in the conference or league and sometimes being awful. Diehard long time fans feel great about this run. I get it though. We all hated the Patriots dynasty.
But none of the receivers were ever really set. I guess I’ve always thought that if you snap it without being set that’s an illegal procedure call.
The original plan going out the window might be on Williams, but any head coach worth a plug nickel is calling timeout when he sees that the train has come off the tracks in that situation (and if he couldn't see that was what had happened, well that's just as bad). Yeah, you wanted an extra play (nice of Flus to finally realize that the yards on the penultimate play actually matter, I guess), but that's not gonna happen now, so take a breath and set up an actual Hail Mary. Sitting on your thumbs and pinning it on a rookie playing his 12th game isn't gonna fly.

- Week 2 (Chiefs vs. Bengals): 27.9 million.
- Cowboys-Ravens in Week 3: 27.3 million.
- Week 7 (Chiefs vs. 49ers): 27.1 million.
It was kind of a late slide? With all the Mahomes fake slide ***** footing BS I don’t blame defenders at all for putting hits on QBs when they can.
This is why I really like that Purdy has changed from a this baseball slide to a quickly getting down head first. You are just so vulnerable when you go into the type of feet first slide.
I get that it’s a brutal hit and all that, but that slide comes late as ****, he doesn’t hit the ground until a yard before the first down line.
