Think back to the press conference after we beat them at Hilton and how Bill praised TJ for how he constructed the roster.

Bill has done the exact opposite of TJ, he's gone for names without regard to how the pieces fit together.
That's pretty much what Mike Woodson did.

They have got alot of good players. But they don’t compliment each other. It’s a poorly constructed roster.

Go get the best 11 NFL quarterbacks of all time. Put them on the field together, it will be the best offense ever! Can't fail!

Some of those guys don’t move like they used to though. It’d be like when Self threw Perry Ellis out there as a 50 year old playing against 22 year olds. Not a fair representation.

It seems like they should compliment each other. At least the top 6. With the talented big, the blue collar power forward, the good shooting/scoring 2-guard, and the defense first pg distributor. Storr and Griffen being underwhelming is certainly hurting them.

After years of constructing great rosters, it's pretty amazing the last couple years his roster has been seriously flawed. One could even argue the roster issues go back further. Other than KU's 2022 National Title, 2018 was the last year they advanced beyond the Sweet 16.

In watching KU the last 2 years, just seems like Dickinson has broke the Jayhawks. He's a solid player- but a horrible fit for what Self tries to execute.

It will be interesting what Self does. I could see him retire and I could see him leave KU if he wants to coach another 6-8 years. Just like Roy Williams before him, a fresh start might be good for him.
I'm not sure there's as obvious of a fresh start spot for Self. For Williams, going home to North Carolina was an obvious choice. For Self, it doesn't seem like going to Oklahoma State (or even Oklahoma) is a good option. I guess he could try Texas but it isn't "dear to his heart" like UNC was to Williams. I guess he could try to rebuild a former blue blood like Indiana or Iowa (insert sarcasm pirate).

I had it in my head that he was the head coach at Okie State once but it was Illinois.

That might actually be a good deal; end the career rebuilding his alma mater to being decent again. I think he could do that.

Especially if he really doesn't have much say in recruiting (which is pretty stupid if true) and would have more control in Stillwater.

If UNI beats Drake on Sunday in St Louis, I give it like a 5% chance but it doesn't feel likely.

That loss to Bradley was crippling for Drake. They have zero margin for error now if they want an at large and even then it might not be enough.

2 of Drake’s wins are non D1 and don’t even count. They are 59 in the NET and have only 1 Quad 1 win and 2 Quad 3 losses. I don’t think Drake can suffer another loss and get in as an at large. Honestly I don’t think it will matter after this Sunday because I don’t think they beat UNI in CF.

Indiana has to take a big swing; wouldn’t surprise me if they back up the Brinks truck and make a run at Self.

Without Pickens, do they have much money? I don’t know if Pickens was an outlier or if many of their alumni are oil barons. Would a big name like Self get the fanbase to put money into a program to make them a player?

I could see Self leaving KU maybe...but can't see him go to another team in the Big 12...even the school he attended. If UCLA were to open...I could see him moving out west.

Completely agree. Only playing 6 guys has caught up and there just aren't any legs left. Stirtz missed 3 or 4 really good looks from 3 Sunday well short.

I fully expect UNI to beat them Sunday, UNI is on a tear right now and playing better than anybody in the league.

Way up there
Self can just pull an Urban Meyer, retire then have your pick of any job you want. That said, he's always been in the Midwest, its hard to see him taking an SEC,ACC or Big East job and there's really no one in the big 12 that is at the level of a job he'd take. Would he ever go back to Stillwater?

Self now has at least three 29 point + losses the last two seasons in the Big 12.

You really need to research them more becuase they can go 9 deep. Only 3 of their starters player significant minutes. The rest are in the 15-25 mpg range.

Lime I pointed out the other day, you said 5 weeks ago "their legs were gone" as they proceeded to rattle off 11 straight.

I think likely what happened on Sundat instead is the 2nd best team in a conference can compete with the 1st place team.

Complemented enough earlier to beat those teams
Right. And has that changed as the season has progressed?

All my KU fan friends recognize the same issues. A big post player parred with a 4 who can’t shoot. Two driving guards who aren’t jump shooters. A lack of shooting to space the floor effectively. A couple of failed transfers.

They can still pull it together for a tourney run given the talent.

That would be opposite of the KU stereotype
