I think we'll be in the 16-17 win range and need a serious run in KC to make the tournament.

Sucks so much to lose TH. I worry we’re going to find out how much value he added last year and not in a good way. Think we could get to a ceiling of 7-11 in conference, which depending on the strength of the conference could be bubbly. That’s ceiling though.

If TH was still in the fold I’d be saying that not making the tourney would be a bad season. Just takes one guy in basketball. Cavalry is coming though and TL being forced in to a bigger role this season could pay big dividends next year.

I never doubt TJ though, he doesn’t waste time on guys that he doesn’t think will work.
I don't think his defense is replaceable in that position, as he was fantastic at a key spot. However, I think the inside presence offsets that, and he had some weaknesses too.

And experience was a big one, some of which is getting wiped away via ISU and Texas benefits from. Also I feel like in today’s game your “point” defense is so much more important than interior defense. With the proliferation of the 3 pointer shot-blocking isn’t as valuable as it once was. Steals are automatic turnovers, shot blocks aren’t. Therefore steals are more important than shot blocks. I realize there’s more too interior defense than shot blocking but that ability to disrupt at the point of attack is so so key in CBB right now.

True, though I think that having a shot blocker allows perimeter defenders to play tighter as they don't have to worry quite as much about getting beat off the dribble.

Year Two is always harder than Year One for some reason.

I'll say .500ish and an NIT bid dependent on staying on the right side of .500.

But, hoo boy. look out for 2023-24.

This team is very hard to predict. Same problem I had last year. I don't know what to expect form a lot of these guys except I know they will be good defensively.

This. You don't have to have elite defense at the guard spots with an eraser inside. I don't think the drop off at his spot will be huge on defense and adding shot blockers to the team has actually made it so the defense has the potential to be better.

Try to lose 2 noncons or less and shoot for 500 in the big 12 are realistic goals for me.

We need to make Hilton a complete buzzsaw for opposing teams to play in again.

Pretty nervous coming into this year. As others have mentioned, Year 2 seems to be a little harder. Plenty of tape now for the very talented coaches in this league to break down.

I also don't think it can be overstated how many times Brockington bailed us out on offense. I'm real nervous about who can fill that role and where our scoring comes from.

Add in a freshman point guard and I think we'll be lucky to get to 15 wins. I hope I am wrong.

Same. I think the 23-24 team is going to be what TJ ball is supposed to look like 100%. Its nice knowing that while shooting will be bad again this year it shouldnt stay like that.

We're getting all those pieces at a great time too because next years league isnt going to be much easier

I'll believe it when I see it

That's 20+ wins. We'd be greatly overachieving if that's the case. I hope so, but will need a lot to break our way.
