Iowa at 15 ahead of OU at 16 doesn't seem right. Also Wake Forest at 17 ahead of Clemson at 19 makes no sense.
Both iowa and wake played in their conference championships while OU and Clemson didn’t. So it makes sense to me.
We weren’t penalized last year for losing the conference championship game.

What was Iowa before last night? How are they still at 15? They have played ONE game against a team that is currently ranked, and they lost 3-42.

They are basing it sole on the number of fans these schools have. It's not about the casuals really. They know Bama, Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, etc. etc. have massive fan bases and every single one of them will be watching their team play. It's a safe scenario for the networks. Maybe they lose the casuals who would want to see some different teams, but between just those massive fanbases and the college football junkies they will get their number.

Massive fanbases are chock full of casual/bandwagoners, so if a big brand is eliminated and not in there, the networks know that's a ton of people not tuning in because their team isn't in and they don't really care about college football.
They are basing it off the same flawed thinking that says OU and UT are worth half the conference, because of TV ratings. But the problem with that thinking is the OU and UT were the ones always playing on the tier one channels, not the smaller ones. Put Cincinnati on ABC or Fox and it will get a decent rating. Not as good as an Ohio St or Alabama, but equal to most teams.

It's not the team, it's the platform, the rest is garbage used by the conferences and network to show the games that they want to show. If UT has such a huge following, why do their games on the LHN suck? Because few people get the network, just like few get FX1 and ESPN+
