It's Oklahoma State versus Texas at 5 pm on ESPN for the Big XII Basketball Tournament Championship:

It will also be live streamed on ESPN3 in an "Above the rim" format:

If you prefer home town audio streaming, here is the Tune-In link:

Here is the official Big 12scoreboard:

Texas got to the title game on basically a forfeit . You see that in wrestling now and then, but its pretty rare for BB.

Texas closes out the first half with a 43-33 lead. Maybe that extra day's rest is paying a dividend today.

I actually didn't know until I looked it up, but the Big 7 became the Big 8 with the addition of Oklahoma State (or A&M as it was called before that). Here is an old tournament cover from back in the day. I actually attended a Big 8 pre-season tournament in K.C. in the early 70s. Wonder why they did away with those?

Because the postseason tournament was created. No reason to have both, and have teams playing each other up to 4 times.

Pretty sure there were both for a while.

The first postseason tournament was March 1977. The last holiday tournament was Dec. 1978.

The holiday tournament was discontinued because of the existence of the postseason tournament.

The postseason tournament also had the first round played at the higher seed through 1985. Only the semifinalists made it to Kemper, until they expanded it in 1986 and brought all 8 teams to KC.

Always have liked Shaka, happy for him and some good stories on his team Jones being the obvious.
