Martin's last two ASU teams needed him to be a scorer so he was a 19ppg scorer. His sophomore year, they needed him to be a facilitator so he led the PAC 12 in assists. He'll provide whatever Self needs him provide.
Based on ASU's record last season with plenty of talent outside of Martin, his selfishness contributed to that record. Self may coach him up to to be more unselfish but I have my doubts.

You seem pretty committed to this Martin "selfishness" thing. From what I have read about the team, their issues were based mostly on injuries and covid protocol chaos.

He's the most committed. Don't get him started on Marcus Carr..
Ah, the "we didn't want him anyways" logic. Got it.

Just scrolling through all these upgrades to rosters has me itching for Big 12 basketball to get started again. I really hope ISU is back in the mix again this year. It's a lot more fun when ISU is a contender. Fingers crossed for you guys.

What will be interesting is Texas brought in a lot of guys that dominated the ball on bad teams and now they are all on one team in an offense that is very slow so shots will be a lot harder to come by. Also find it interesting they brought in Carr when Ramey and Jones already handle the ball a lot so you kind of have a redundant player. Will be interesting to see if they play bigger or whether they go small with their starting lineup.

Carr is ripped by Ryan James in this article for the decline in production by Kalscheur over the past couple of seasons. Beard was one game over .500 in B12 play the past two seasons at Tech without good PG play and he may have similar issues at Texas this season amongst Carr, Askew and Ramey as you suggest. Both Pitt and Minnesota tanked while Carr was playing for them.

I'll admit I'd rather have Hunter than any grad transfer right now just because I think this is a total rebuild and I'd rather start with a very talented player that is a little undersized which could lead the program for years. Just my opinion obivously.
