Curious how many on here keep track? Been using my iPhone, but just bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR.

I try to do about 3 miles per day walking/jogging and adding the rest of my day usually end up around 12,000 per day. Once you start keeping track it becomes a bit addictive I've found. Wife gets grumpy with me when she is watching a movie and I'm trouncing around the living room trying to get steps. Probably gonna end up with me having to replace the carpet sooner than usual.

There is an app that came with my phone that tracks steps and activity time. It is very addictive, and with my job, I had to raise the target. Usually get 12,000 to 15,000 steps a day.

I have that, but I thought it was like golf where lowest score wins.

Don't know if the activity band will drive me nuts or not. Don't like wearing watches so might have been a bad purchase but we will see. Got it for $70 when it is usually $150.

Bought the fitbit blaze, which I use to help keep track of more exact running and biking mileage.

Plus the workweek challenges to compete against friends for a weekly step total is an easy way to stay motivated. I'll typically average around 22k steps per work day.

The wife and I got fitbits and do the same. I average about 10k a day but the wife beats me everyday. It helps sheiks 5'4" and I am 6'2". I go more miles and burn more calories many days but her little legs always have ore steps :-(

LA LA Land
When I lived and worked in Chicago I had trouble keeping weight on because I walked so much. Typical day:
- 5 blocks to train station
- 5 blocks from other station to work
- 3-10 blocks walking somewhere to lunch most days
- 3 -10 blocks back from lunch
- 5 blocks back to train station
- 5 blocks back to home
- 3-10 blocks walking somewhere for dinner or groceries most nights
- 3-10 blocks back home

That was pretty much every work day. Fast forward to LA where I have a long commute and go for lunch by car and I discovered I was walking just 2 blocks most days compared to 40 blocks a day previously. I started parking 3 blocks from the office...the weather is always great. Also started eating healthier and I'm like a fitness nut on the weekend (go running, hiking or surfing at least twice a weekend), took me about 6 months to adapt but I'm back to feeling healthy again. In both scenarios I spent a TON of time getting where I was going, but the Chicago version naturally kept me in somewhat decent shape even if I didn't work out.

That's impressive. I thought I was doing pretty good at 12k per day.

I usually average 6k daily so I have to walk on the treadmill to get my 10k. Found the fitbit is way better than my phone app.

12k is damn good. I hate losing, and my friends are prickswhen they win, so extra long walks for the dog even on days that I run 6 miles has become my thing.

It's a pretty good habit to get in to.
