REFUTED: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

It's sensationalism and it's just a crappy article. It takes isolated incidents over YEARS, spins the facts by quoting opinions from sources, and somehow links them together as proof of this mega divide between the AD and the "program." Ultimately, reaching a conclusion set out to the reading...

    Starting your own business

I bought a franchise 5+ years ago. I took a very large paycut. It was difficult and an adjustment for the first 3.5 years. Things are going well now. Realize the the franchisor cannot divulge what other franchises make - however, you can ask for names and numbers and contact other people that...

    Bothers me the most

I've told myself time and time again he's making a mistake. How can he not understand he's as unfireable as Coach K already. All the things you mention. Family in Ames, grew up there. He'll win 700 more games. Potentially coaching his own kids. He's making a mistake! But you know what I've come...

List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I'm a 45 year old ISU graduate that was born into an Iowa State family. Hope is all I have. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. It's sports. We were lucky to have Fred elevate the program. I hope it continues. It's fun but it's not paying my bills or raising my kids.

List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

Honestly, I'm still holding out hope. If not, whoever the coach is next year will have a great team. Not all is lost.

List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I'm not dismissing him! I'm saying he's the next closest thing! But it's NOT FRED! FRED and FRED alone created what we see at Iowa State and the national narrative the comes along with it. Hornacek may be the next Adolph Rupp. That's great. Wouldn't that be a nice way to forget about Fred.

List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

Reread my post. Hornacek is the closest thing to Fred given all the storylines but he's not Fred. That's the point. No one ever will be. I'd be fine with Hornacek. I was trying to make a greater point that Fred was/is a once in a lifetime scenario for an Iowa State of the world.

List of potential replacements should Fred Hoiberg leave

I think people are grossly overestimating the job. Hoiberg alone made the program relevant. HE made Iowa State a top 15-20 program in the nation. Without Fred I don't see it the same way to be honest. YES, it is one hell of a team coming back next year. But without Fred (going forward) are we...

    * Hoiberg Watch 2015: Wednesday, May 27 Thread

Okay that said, I lived in Chicago during the Bulls run and I must say it was impressive. The way the league is now, the Spurs seem to me to be the last of the "dynasty" type teams going forward. You just can't keep teams together like that anymore. That's why I question the move by Fred if he...

    * Hoiberg Watch 2015: Wednesday, May 27 Thread

I really don't watch the NBA. Fred at the Bulls wouldn't change that. I would hope he has success. So many freaking variables with an NBA team. Juggling egos. Guys leaving to be "the man" somewhere else. It's just not a very stable environment. That and the Cavs are squarely in the Bulls way for...

    * Hoiberg Watch 2015: Wednesday, May 27 Thread

Not being snarky but I'm not sure why that would matter. It's not like they'd be packing up and starting school in Chicago in a week. If only so the kids don't have to deal with the bum rush of questions? I'm sure they already are dealing with that 1000%. If he's going the family has embraced...

    * Hoiberg Watch 2015: Wednesday, May 27 Thread

My hope right now is Fred has told them he is still on the fence and will give them his decision on x date. Otherwise what's the reason for Chicago to not have parted ways with Thibs?

    * Hoiberg Watch 2015: Wednesday, May 27 Thread

What's interesting about this Bulls coaching deal is the amount of backstabbing the front office seems to partake in with regards to Thibs. Sun Times is even going so far as to say Paxson is dragging his feet so other potential landing spots for Thibs fill up - leaving him unable to coach in the...

Washington's Lorenzo Romar on TJ Otzelberger's Departure

Pollard would not tell an assistant that left to go somewhere else for a few years that the job is his at some point. Not how it works.

Washington's Lorenzo Romar on TJ Otzelberger's Departure

So Fred has built a Top 25 (to be modest) program and it's TJ's job without vetting anyone else. That's absurd. It would be a foolish move by Pollard at best. Think about what you are saying. TJ turned down a Horizon League (or whatever) job interview to return to a Top 10 basketball...

Washington's Lorenzo Romar on TJ Otzelberger's Departure

I just stumbled on this thread. So Pollard in his condition - AND NOT WORKING - has interviewed and agreed to make TJ the head coach. AFTER vetting and doing an exhaustive head coaching search - WHILE NOT WORKING - only to determine TJ would replace Fred. WHO, will have his best team to date...
