    This is true and I’ll add that the 80’s farm crisis was an absolute population killer not only for farmers but for the Main Street businesses in rural Iowa that were not able to recover.

    Yes we closed the Wesley elementary in 08 or 09 I believe. At dissolution we ceded about 85% of our district to LuVerne so that they could continue to function. The city of Wesley is now in the LuVerne district.

    The student teacher ratio at LuVerne is more than 1:1. They have started using teachers across multiple grades to compensate for declining enrollment. There are probably 60-75 students left and 7 or so teachers counting preschool.

    Actually we only dissolved the Corwith-Wesley district. LuVerne was not on the Dept of Ed hit list so that district managed to stay open and operates as a pre/K-6 that tuitions out its 7-12 to Algona. Enrollment is getting critically low needless to say
