How many B12 jobs are going to open up?

Notre Dame has tried to shoot down rumors about Brian Kelly looking elsewhere, but I'm not sold. If he would leave for a less stressful job I could see Notre Dame hiring Fleck.

    Rhoads to Texas as DC?

When Rhoads was at his peak here, in 2011 and 2012, the defense was definitely a solid unit. When both Rhoads and Herman were at ISU, it's hard to say that Herman was the better coach of the two.

    Rhoads to Texas as DC?

Rhoads didn't have a great last few years in Ames, but if you look at our historical record we really shouldn't be surprised when coaches failed here. He's a good defensive mind and would be a good DC at Texas. I got the impression he and Herman aren't guys who would want to coach together...

ISU vs. TT: 'I knew it was over when ...'

I was 98% confident when Lazard had his one-handed catch. I was completely confident half way through the fourth quarter.

I wonder if Lanning switches positions for next season?

Use him as the H-back, use him in the wildcat. Even if he beats out Zeb and stays as the second string QB I think you still need to have him on the field with some consistency. Also, leave Park in at wide receiver sometimes when Lanning takes the snap.

Mike Warren talked about his future at Iowa State tonight

I hope Warren stays. If he leaves, we'll have two good running backs. If he stays we'll have three good running backs, and we'll probably see Kene used some in the slot to get him on the field. As long as two of our three running backs right now stay, we should be in good shape at that position.

    Ex-Clones at other schools

To be fair a lot of these guys seem like examples of players who had the physical talent but didn't play for other reasons. Damien Lawry had good offers and so did D'Vario Montgomery. This doesn't excuse the Rhoads staff inability to recruit, but I have a feeling some of these guys not getting...

Anyone else see Park get ripped a new one on Saturday by CMC?

On paper I'm not sure if there is a game this year where you can argue that Park was definitely the better QB. Maybe you can argue that for San Jose State, but that doesn't tell us a lot since the only team we play in the Big 12 that is that bad would be Kansas. Maybe Park is a better QB, or...

Anyone else see Park get ripped a new one on Saturday by CMC?

Stat wise Lanning has been a better passer so far this year, completing 59% of his passes to Park's 55%, and also having a better touchdown to interception ratio. I think Park probably has more potential as a more accurate passer, but so far in the Big 12 this year we haven't seen it...

COLUMN: The main reason ISU is 1-7;...

I don't get the complaints about the play calling at all. It was a little suspect early but has been fine since the first couple games. Our receivers, running backs, QBs, and d-backs are all fine. Our lines and linebackers leave something to be desired. I also don't get the complaints about...

COLUMN: The main reason ISU is 1-7;...

If our o-line would have stayed intact and not had the big injury to Campus I could have seen a bowl game. Shoot, we are only four plays away from having five wins right now.

    Only 6 offensive lineman?

Agree with this one big time. Fett and Seda are great workers and I appreciate their dedication, but we've got guys on the o-line that simply aren't Big 12 athletes. Luckily for us they've got five star hearts which has allowed our offense to look pretty darn good at times.

    Daley Touchdown

That's one of the throws Park can see that Lanning can't.

NOTEBOOK: As Heacock predicted, turnovers came in bunches for ISU's defense

I agree that Heacock has shown a solid ability to make adjustments during the game. He's a solid coordinator. If we can recruit our front seven on defense better he'll be a good one in Ames.

    Flying is hard

This is bad, but until Rastetter goes I envision Leath, Harreld, and whoever else on the top getting away with crap like this. I wish somebody in the Legislature who is a Republican would stand up to Rastetter. Unfortunately they want his money, which is the only reason he got this job in the...

Lanning is nothing more than a situational QB.

Use them both. If our line was decent I think one of them would claim the job, depending on if we wanted to go run first or pass first. With our line being as bad as they are I think you play them both and hope that the defense having to prepare for both gives you a chance.

    Cedar Rapids flooding

Wasn't supposed to happen last time either, and then they found out their maps were inaccurate for some places. I guess if there was one good thing about 2008, it allowed everybody to be better prepared for similar stuff in the future.

    Designated Survivor

Gonna watch it. First show in a while I've planned on watching too, so hopefully it's worthwhile.

List of guys not on roster from last year...

Jordan Harris, Burton, and Dunning were the biggest losses. Montgomery and Wesley were good players, but it seems like receivers and running backs are a lot easier to replace than lineman, unless if they are elite. Knott and Peters weren't bad players, but I'd take Harvey over either of them.
