    Exactly right. They are not that much closer to NYC than Ames is. I am 140 miles North of Columbia and still in southern NC. Looked into going to game but realized then what a drive it is.

    Only thing I don't like is the target on your back gets bigger every time that ranking number gets smaller. It sometimes does help with a better tourney seed though.

    Don't disagree about ceiling, but it looked that way in the 80's also. Part of it stems from the design to enhance acoustics.

    To me, what hurt the B12 in the playoff format is the non-conference schedule as much as not having a Championship game. The problem is that schools don't want to play tougher non-conference games when they already have to play all 9 conference teams.

    Iowa reminds me of our teams with McD coaching. Wrong players and wrong coaching style for Iowa. I don't think Fran is that bad a coach overall, though I've never cared for Hot Heads, but just not a good fit. And not enough talent.

    Absolutely well written article and makes me understand why the NBA may have never worked out long-term for him. Sounds like most comfortable he was playing was when he was here which says a lot for CFH and staff.
