Defensive Line - This is a good sign

Bankston has been getting some good push up the middle. A sack in each game is not a bad start.

    STAFF PICKS: TCU

When do we hear about testing results? Appears Iowa State is already on the way to Fort Worth. I believe Jamie posted something, at this point in time, regarding COVID tests results before the LA game.

Max Duggan cleared to play Saturday

For reference, when the Big 12 switched to a 9 game conference schedule, Rhoads won 7 conference games (in 4 seasons from 2012-2015). In a more comparative summary to CMC (as CMC is in year 5), Rhoads won a total of 8 games in years 5 through 7 (3-2-3 respectively). We'll see if CMC...

    WR analysis

That has been a recurring criticism on Purdy throughout his ISU career. Tends to hold the ball a touch longer than he should, while in the pocket, and increases difficulty of those throws. May be a product of play design? I love it when Purdy rolls out, much more difficult to defend.

    Quick Note On The OL

Offense definitely regressed towards the end of the season. We became extremely predictable due to our inability to run the football. I believe Iowa State ranked 9th the Big 12 in rushing (for conference games) last year. Running the football has to improve to make this offense more "multiple"...

    Dowling lost last week too.

    Biggest Letdown in Cyclone History?

Not quite understanding our route concepts/route trees. Easy throws seem to be very few and far between. Each completion seems to be a monumental struggle (save for how we utilized Milton a few times early today). Never appeared to be in a good rhythm. Purdy does miss open receivers as he...

Appears we open up @TCU on Sept. 26

Some news about the football team: TJ Tampa appears to be taking reps at DB (according the football teams Instagram). Maybe this isn't news and had been mentioned earlier?

Worst ISU Football Team You've Watched

One series of events I distinctly remember from that game. We were up 14-0 at the time. We had kicked off to NDSU for a touchback. First play from scrimmage was an 80 yard TD run, which was called back for holding. Very next play after the holding, 80+ yard TD run (appeared to be the same play...

Stewart Mandel looks at conference revenue in the next 10 years

Agreed. This statement should be included in another thread(s) too.

Bigger Impact on college Football, COVID or Racism?

I'm genuinely curious, what are you seeing/reading that is indicative of the situation worsening? Daily national cases, as with Iowa, seem to be trending in a positive direction.

    Kirk Ferentz labeled racist

Are teams planning to be on the field for the National Anthem now? Maybe that will finally quell the 'entrance music' arguments. Though, pre-game can always be adjusted, 'entrance music' is probably still a thing.

COLUMN: How COVID-19 will change college football forever

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2020/05/14/iowa-state-takes-steps-get-athletes-back-campus-amid-coronavirus/5188026002/ Good story on ISU and athletes returning to campus.

Coronavirus Coronavirus: In-Iowa General Discussion (Not Limited)

This is an elected official thing, not unique to Iowa.

    Ray Lima?

Agreed. Baylor's defense was good at forcing turnovers last year, which obviously played a huge part. Three plays go our way (Iowa, Baylor, OU), season looks a lot different. However, if Purdy doesn't recover that fumble against UNI and we miss the FG against UT, we are looking at a 5 win season.

Coronavirus Coronavirus: In-Iowa General Discussion (Not Limited)

Here's a good resource. State-wide view, not by county. https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/iowa On April 16, all beds needed were 566 during 'peak resource use' date of May 5th. Today, that number is 243 beds ('peak resource use' now May 4th).

    Are we being to harsh

I get players need to have some accountability in this, but isn't that what separates good coaches? Ultimately, it IS on Steve to get players to perform, or in this case, execute the game plan.
