MONDAY MUSINGS: Iowa State's road looking more and more optimistic

Who do we want to win on Saturday between Utah and OkSt? I have not gone thru either schedules to see other possible losses, but I feel like it's better for Utah to win since we at least have a chance to beat them head to head. Also I think it's better chance we make the CCG if Utah goes...

    Caleb Bacon injury

I think it's an injury that he could possibly play thru pain, or get surgery. Surgery would likely mean out for the season. That's the decision. Edit: this is about McLaughlin

    ***2024 NFL Draft***

I don't get the "he should have stayed." It's not like he's going to fall until the 5th round. He's still going to get paid, and have a pretty secure roster spot.

Joshua Jefferson has committed to Iowa State

I think the biggest trade off from game to game is going to be the Heise vs Watson minutes. Game flow and matchups will dictate a lot there. Also the shifting around of Momcilovic between the 3/4, and Jefferson between the 4/5.

Joshua Jefferson has committed to Iowa State

Because he might play 6 minutes in 2 of the games, because of foul trouble, and then not play at all in the others.

Joshua Jefferson has committed to Iowa State

When we predict minutes per game, the question really should be, what is the minutes distribution in the games against Kansas, Houston, Baylor and Arizona? Lipsey 33 Gilbert 28 Momcilovic 27 Jefferson 24 Jackson 25 Jones 30 Watson 15 Heise 15 Chatfield 3 ???

Joshua Jefferson has committed to Iowa State

Minutes per game is such volatile stat. There's no chance he plays 8 minutes in each of the 30+ games. (And I know that's not what you're saying.) Omaha avgd 7.5 minutes per game, but that was 147 minutes over 20 games. He didn't play in 15+ games. And if you take out his 74 minutes from the...

Joshua Jefferson has committed to Iowa State

Unpopular opinion: I don't think Rock plays meaningful minutes. Not calling him a bust. He's still very young, at a position that requires the most experience.

Predictions are going to be a little different this year. There is no "ceiling" number of wins. They won't go undefeated on the season, and won't be undefeated in the Big 12, but I could certainly see them undefeated in the non con. And they will have a legit chance to win every game they play.

Yes and no. They didn't perform to their seeds, but I don't think that takes away from how difficult the 18 game conference schedule was, especially compared to other conferences.

I would love it if one of the Pac 12 teams comes in and wins the Big 10.

Joshua Jefferson has committed to Iowa State

He really rounds out the lineup. As TJ has had more success and his recruiting improves, he's really good at not just getting guys, but guys that fit a role. Lipsey Gilbert Momcilovic Jefferson Jackson Jones Watson Heise Chatfield Rock Indrusaitis Pierce

Tre King was a big man, and used it to be an enforcer type, but I can see Jefferson being more of a natural basketball player. I'll give up a couple offensive rebounds, if it means more touch around the basket, better ball handling/post moves, and higher bball IQ. On paper, Jefferson is the...

BRE, Ward, and Tre are one of the main reasons Iowa St wasn't better last year. Their lack of consistent offense lead to some odd mismatches, and scoring droughts, especially against Illinois. While more depth at the 4 is needed for next year, Jackson at the 5 should be an improvement.

Wrong again. Kyle was 58% last season. FWIW he was 64% the season before.

    Tyrese Hunter Enters Portal Again

I don't care how some feel about him, this was pretty bad ass. He didn't have a great game vs Wisconsin, but his game against LSU is one of the more impressive individual performances in Cyclone history.

    Tyrese Hunter Enters Portal Again

Of course he's P5 starter quality if he wants to be. Have you seen how depleted some rosters are? OU, OSU, Tech, KSt. That's just the ones I know off the top of my head. Hell Calipari only started with one kid on the team.
