Random Thoughts 14: I can see clearly now 2020 edition

Heading south on 35 just south of Ankeny, and heading north was a caravan of 10 utility trucks with the same logo on their doors, coming to help. (Couldn't read the logo) God bless out of area utility workers that come to the aid of those that need help.

    8/10 weather

We're in north Ankeny, and going on hour 6 of no power. My car missed being hit by a fairly large branch/tree at work in WDM by about 6 feet.

My parents' 49th wedding anniversary is today. Which means my sister and I have one year to figure out what to do for their 50th.:oops::oops:

Friday OT #2 - Avatar (But Not By James Cameron)

LOTR fan, love this part of the book/movie, love how the "modern" language fits this scene, female on a male dominated board (even if my username is obviously female). Not even sure where or how or why I found this avatar. I switched ONCE several years ago during Christmas...I think to a...

Used the phrase "All y'all" fairly early this morning. We'll see what other colloquialisms from south of the Mason-Dixon come up today.

MLB: 2020 Chicago Cubs Season Thread

Listening to the radio, and Ron Coomer is either lying or misremembering. He claimed he was in the same athletic conference in HS as Naperville Central, my dad's alma mater. No, Ron, you went to Lockport HS, which was in the same athletic conference as MY alma mater. (And no, there wasn't any...

I wish I knew where a charger was for my Blackberry. Has on-the-field video of November 18, 2011. Unfortunately, my camera lens awareness was lacking since my index finger was making a cameo for awhile.

Yeah, this is going to take a bit of time to get used to. Freaked out for a second, but realized I needed to log in to see the ratings and such. And yes! Bring back YouTube embedding!

Galaxy S10 Edge. The screen itself works, so I don't need that fully replaced, just the overlay. Know someone that can do it, too, for free [beer]. Maybe I do pony up and get it done.

Annoyance #1 of the day: Went through the car wash which was actually purchased last week when I had gotten a full tank of gas. 10 minutes later, driving down I-80, and I see it about to happen. Large insect splats itself just to the right of the driver's eyeline. Ugh. Wipers did not help much...

They'd have those type of engines going outside of Pioneer Hall at the State Fair nearly every day. Can't remember which one of us noticed it (probably huaband), but one of the loudest ones "popped" in triplets. Now, whenever we'd walk past, we'd say "Tri-pl-et tri-pl-et..." My mom was driving...

Weaklings. I'd been at work for 42 minutes when KC posted this. *weeps bitterly*

I just started re-reading a webcomic that started back in 1997. I hadn't read any of it for a loooonnnnggggg time, so decided to start at the beginning. Soooooooo much has drastically changed since then. Nobody has a cell phone, never mind a smart phone.

I now want to somehow slip in "Nuclear Rocket Brain Surgeon Science Physicist" in small font in very light gray into my signature.

As much as I like the following story, my husband loves it. As a set-up, Rocky&Bullwinkle was right in my dad's, and his contemporaries, wheelhouse. Debuted when he was in 7th grade. So let's fast forward to the 80's and 90's, and my dad's work team is full of jokesters. (In a good way) At...

I'm on a Facebook group that's mostly female non-sports fans. There's a thread about how Disney+, for some reason, assigned an emoji to each state. And, they got some wrong. (Iowa is corn, Nebraska is a pink flower. Give Nebraska corn and Iowa a pig) ANYWAY! Alabama got a football. We all here...

Interesting. 1) Gas gauge goes 4/4, 2/4, 0/4. 2) The space between the numbers on the speedometer are much closer together than American or Asian made cars. Because of Das Autobahn perhaps?;)

That's a good question. I'm not surprised that a job like this exists for this smaller department, but in the description, it deals with a very small subset. I guess a hypothetical example would be that your job is to make sure the midnight blue crayon gets into the Crayola box...but in other...
