    The Fran fade

Garza was a junior last year- TH was a soph- perhaps if TH was coming back he’d be a NPOY candidate as well? Garza didn’t have the same year as a sophomore as he did last year. What we DO know is that a year from now Garza won’t be as high a pick as TH is about to be.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

True- program success has been defined by that one night in December for so long. “But, we beat you early in the season.”

When Frank says, “win it all”, just what does he mean? LG plays for a coach who’s never made it out of the first weekend of the NCAA’s or even past the 1st day of the conference tourney.

Lots of great options as 2nd best!

Yep- and when Iowa last SHARED their regular season title in ‘79, they were bounced by Toledo in the first round. Funny how that happens to teams.

No, because 12 months later in '00-'01, ISU followed it up with another outright conference regular season title. Iowa's last regular season conference title was 1979 and it was shared with two other teams. So that probably was the 2nd best stretch.

When Big 10 administrators are making up the next season's unbalanced schedule, there are 13 league coaches sitting in their offices saying, "please don't send us to Carver- we'll go anywhere but the Free Pizza Palace."

Man, you're rattled...and Garza hasn't even declared for the NBA yet.

To quote Fran, "body of work". I'll say it again- IA was better than ISU LAST YEAR. ISU was NOT good last year, and Hilton was NOT a tough place for opponents to play LAST YEAR. But ask any coach who has coached in both places over the last 3 decades and the majority are going to tell you...

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

You Hawk slappys are really something- I haven't seen one ISU fan on here not acknowledge that you were the better team all of last season. But over the last 3-3.5 decades, Hilton has been recognized as one of the most difficult places to play in CBB. And, yes, I will take the opinions of...

Here's a couple of stats- Iowa lost at CHA last year by 15 to last-place in the Big East, .500 DePaul and by 9 to 10th place in the Big 10, 16-15 Purdue. Some homecourt advantage.

I’ll go through this one more time- please pay attention Charlie. Yes- IA beat ISU in Hilton and, for like the 2nd time in the last 21 years, were clearly better than ISU. There- we cleared that up. After that, your best wins were over Maryland (there is no more Jekyll and Hyde team in CBB)...

As long as you keep coming on a rivals site trying to tell us how great a season it was, I’ll use Nebraska or whatever other facts I need to remind you that your Hawks weren’t as great as you thought.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Here's another cool story- that defensive-minded coach out in Lincoln held IA to 70- LG had 16 (quiet night for him), JW had 21...on 23 shots- wow! and JT has 14...on 18 shots. Maybe Fran should do a coaching video on efficient offense.

Which makes the 104-68 final score even worse- nobody had double figures besides LG. And, in a rebuilding/down year for Purdue, they won by 9 at Carver also. Painter could coach circles around Fran with one hand tied to his b...s.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Exactly- pace of game/number of possessions has a big impact on that- when you are giving up lay-ups 15 seconds or less into the possession, you are going to have more possessions yourselves too. The ability of teams to inflict their pace on opponents is a huge factor. 90 points is irrelevant...

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Who can create their own shot consistently when the shot clock is at :06 on that team? IA is not a conventional basketball team as the game is played today. They thrive on feeding Garza on the blocks and drawing double teams for kicks to shooters or letting him just do his thing 1 on 1 on the...

Nice job of responding to the data I presented. Since school was cancelled this spring, do you have to repeat 3rd grade or do you just automatically get passed on to 4th?
