Received an email from our daycare provider that Johnson County public health notified them of a confirmed measles exposure.

Hopefully this doesn't go into the cave, but wanted people to know. The individual was at the Johnson County Costco, Walmart and Marshalls on June 4th

Oh, it’s going to the cave. But I hope people do take this seriously and take precautions as needed.

I don't want to turn this into a cave thread either but I'm sure someone will eventually cross the line where it will be sent there unfortunately. I'm going to stick to facts here rather than opinions. Personally I believe most vaccinations are effective but they are also not 100% foolproof either. Case in point, the 2nd confirmed case in Iowa was a vaccinated adult male https://who13.com/news/iowa-news/iowa-hhs-reports-second-case-of-measles-in-iowa-this-year/ The measles vaccine has proven to be a highly effective vaccine and the CDC stats prove it that 95% of the cases so far have been unvaccinated https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html which is right in line with the historical data that 2 doses provides about 97% protection.

no one has EVER claimed ANY vaccine was 100% full proof.

I’m a bit torn on this. For a few years in the mid 60s the vaccine used was different (no live virus I think) and the effectiveness was like in the low 90s instead of the high 90s. Some people recommend getting a booster if you were in that range. I think I was probably vaccinated after that but who knows where my records are. I probably won’t do anything just because of inertia but a small part of me thinks I should.
