Big12 Tournament Mid-season?

With all the injuries that have hit the top teams this year got me questioning, should the Big12 move the conference tournament to mid-season? Back to back to back high intensity games that come from a conference tournament are going to naturally create more injuries as players get tired. If the NCAA is the goal, why put them through that the week before the tournament?

Still award the tournament winner an auto bid, but do it at the end of January or even get crazy and open the season with it.

How do you propose the teams be seeded? And per the last poster, I’d like an answer before the Climbing Kites wear off.

Maybe play it in December, say between Christmas and New Year's. Oh, and might as well keep it in Kansas City for the sake of consistency.

I always thought some kind of non-conference Big 12 holiday tournament would be amazing.

Making it for an automatic bid would be amazing. Wonder if NCAA rules would even allow it.

If we go to divisions, a conference tournament in the middle could be a way to make sure we aren’t playing teams every 4 years:

I remember when the BIG 8 had a preseason tournament. Maybe something similar to the conference challenges.
