Not exactly sure.
To be fair when it was likely they wouldn’t contribute both sides moved on. It’s not like they took up scholarships long term
They didn’t have huge choices. We weren’t known as being anything but a bad team before that. Brock changed things for us.

I see Jalen Martin is in the NFL draft. Why did he transfer from here I honestly can’t remember
Sounds like there’s a DB at Pittsburg State who’s getting serious NFL looks. I’m not sure about Martin. Hope it works out for him.

This list makes me feel a lot better about the transfers.

So many transferred down.

Similar to my feelings. Campbell, in his first four years, sold something like "come be a part of a record turnaround and help contribute ASAP."

The reality is a lot of these kids have been recruited over the past 2 years and to see a freshman or sophomore come into the two deeps (Freyler) will send a shock wave thru the position room.

The recruits now understand, for the most part, they are in a 2-3 year grind to get into the two deeps. Better athletes with a real perspective on PT from this point forward, imo.

The reality is one potential starter has left on this entire list. Everyone wants to find the cancer, but I don't think there is one. Look at things with 5-year hindsight and a lot of this movement makes sense. Now, if the turnover rate in 2 years at the defensive back position continues, then there is a cancer. Until then, everyone needs to have some perspective and understand the ebbs and flows.

Excellent post. I agree 99%. There is no cancer. Almost everybody left to get playing time.
My 1% disagreement is with only one potential starter. I think McDonald and Isheem Young certainly would be potential starters.
Plus, over their careers I think Milton, Scates, Ramos, King, Bankston, and D Young have all started. But in agreement with your point - these are all examples of guys good enough to start at one point in time, but recruited over. Continuous improvement.
Certainly some impact on depth and possibly special teams. But almost all these kids made a decision on what allows them the best chance to hit the field.

with several transfers from last year, is our total scholarship allotment and or roster full right now? Or do we have at least two open due to McDonald and Morgan late departures?

I'm still shocked that Datrone Young ended up at Duke.

I’m a bad person for saying this but I will only remember Datrone Young for his special teams hit on Deshaunte Jones.
I remember "speedy" when he came on to the scene as a RS FR. He had some upside as a hard hitter and certainly was fast enough to live up to his nickname. Seemed his coverage skills never really came along like we had hoped, or, possibly the Deshaunte Jones hit you referenced ruined his psyche a bit and he was never able to recover 100%.

A question I’ve had for a long time is if there is any chance a player in the portal returns to their original school. Thinking of a guy like Milton; who I’m surprised hasn’t found a new home. Seemed like a good teammate and has certainly made a lot of splash plays in his 4 years here. If he finds no other suitable home why wouldn’t he just stay? I wouldn’t say our WR room is exactly loaded with can’t miss starters beyond X.
