The best part is they all have different skills. Kolar is a great receiving threat, Allen is a good balanced TE, and Soehner is a mauler. Crazy to see how good this group got considering our TE situation a couple years ago was bad.

Just curious, what makes you say that?

I just think Chase projects into a better role player 2nd or 3rd TE type in the NFL. I don’t think Charlie is a starter and most backup TEs are block first guys.

Kolar-- 6'6" 252 lbs
Allen-- 6'7" 245 lbs
Soehner-- 6'7" 270 lbs

Now that is some size. Soehner is just a massive human being.....

Great group. Awesome that they're getting recognition.

Unbelievable height with these guys. Do you think Prohm has ever wondered, "Can any of these guys guard a stretch 4?"

Our head ball coach is a former tight end and defensive end. Now we've got great TE's and DE's. Seems like he knows what to look for in these positions! :D

It’s scary to think that Campbell went out of his way to say that the most talented one in the group (Easton Dean) hasn’t even played yet..
I’ve been a Cyclone fan and followed recruiting closely longer than most of you have been alive. Shoot, I remember when recruits’ dads committed. And we’re almost to grandfathers, in one case (a current tight end recruit, coincidentally).

And I’ve never seen this much talented depth at tight end. Not even close. This Fall, the TE room should go six deep in talented, athletic tight ends, any of whom the coaches of the last forty years would have loved to have had.

Of course, unprecedented quality depth applies to the whole team, but who’s counting?

One thing that often gets lost is the combination of size, strength and mobility that you find in quality TEs is invaluable in the special teams game. When you have quality depth at those positions you have the chance to have great coverage teams.

Way up there
The TE group has been really fun to watch develop, the 3 upperclassmen were basically thrown to the wolves as fr and so. TE development was something we heard early on from this staff, they have not disappointed.

We've had some good TE's over the years, but I always feel like they've been underutilized. Something else that Campbell is improving on.

Having a good QB also helps. And as the OP mentioned, CMC says that the one that may be the best has not yet played! I hope they all stay healthy.
