There's a lot of things that can kill if the delivery fits, from Ron White getting fired from the pickle factory for sticking his finger in the pickle slicer to Steven Wright's softball team practicing in the observatory.

This stuff is really not easy at all.

What do you do with Cosby? I still think Bill Cosby: Himself is the best stand up act I have ever seen. I laugh through almost the whole thing and he never goes blue. But the guy is a serial rapist.

1. Murphy
2. Kinison
3. Chapelle
4. Lewis Black

Cosby would be number one if he didn't do what he did. He killed on stage and had one of the top 5 sitcoms in history. However, since we have not built the Comedy Mt Rushmore yet. We will ignore his contribution and give it to someone who didn't rape evey girl he met. Can we all agree on that?

Chappelle

Louie

Bill Burr

Richard Prior *

* I put Prior last because comedy has become much more nuanced and sophisticated
nowadays, but wouldn’t be where it is today without him.

Which Louie? Anderson? I don't think Louis Black goes by Louie.

If your list is comprised completely of people born after 1970, you need to educate yourself.

Weird Al Yankovic
Sasha Baron Cohen
Bob Einstein (Super Dave Osborne, among other characters)
Tom and **** Smothers (dang it... Tom's brother, Richard)

I'm just glad to know I'm not the only person who found Robin Williams completely unfunny. I thought there was something wrong with me.

Carlin, Chapelle, Cosby, and probably someone even further back.

Say what you want about Cosby now., But in his prime, before we knew what we know about him, he was hilarious.

I always recognized his talent be he didn't seem all that funny to me either. The one that I find absolutely unfunny no matter what is Jim Carrey. He's the Jerry Lewis of our time.

I always felt he was a good entertainer but never found him really funny. Not next level by any means. I always think of him as a less funny Bob Hope
