I understand that. However, your benchmark was 38%. He shot 37.9% from 3 in Big 12 play after his role expanded due to TH's injury.

I get it. He shot better in Big 12 play. When we talk about the 38% bar you need to have that guy making around 50 3’s a year. Our best teams have always had 4-5 players that make over 40 3 pointers a year with a lead sniper between 65-75 3’s.

As an example in 16-17 we had 5 players over 42 3’s made and all shot above 37%. Matt and Naz were in the 80’s and 90’s for makes.

In 15-16 we had 4 people over 38 made 3’s and all were above 36% with Niang & Nader above 50 and Matt at 89.

In 13-14 we had 5 players above 43 3’s made.

In 12-13 we had 5 players above 38 3’s made and three players above 65 3’s made.

In 11-12 we had 4 players above 50 3’s made.

In closing we need to have Bolton, Jackson and two new recruits shoot at that 38% clip and make over 45 3’s next year. Bolton and Gomez could do that. Maybe Jackson can but he simply wasn’t consistent enough to make that a forgone conclusion.

Actually he was 12-36 from 3 point range in the nine games over TH’s injury. He was 3-3 against Texas and 4-5 against Oklahoma and when you only take a total of 58 shots in Big 12 play that is going to skew things.
Once again it is possible that he makes the jump but I think he is a couple years away from having a major offensive impact.

Way up there
Haarms will be able to go anywhere he likes, I'd be shocked if we were even in the convo. He is probably wanting to go to a contender.

Jesus you would think that S. Alabama would've gotten out of that zone lol. This guy would be interesting. Definitely helps our shooting that's for sure. Career 38% 3pt shooter, shot 33% last year but the year before he shot 44% and made 80 threes.

He looks like another guy that would be able to extend the defense tremendously. I have no idea if we'll be interested in him, but I like his shot and his stats look pretty good.

I vote we get Gomez and Haarms and instead of having a basketball season just stage a sitcom.

Is the rationalization any more logically flawed than basing his impact off his shooting in three games? That’s assuming you even have your numbers correct for that small sample.

He shot 17% overall in his 4 games vs P5 opponents and 26% from 3 on the whole season, so yes that is concerning to me. At this point I assume he is coming here so hopefully he can take care of the ball and distribute to those who can score.

If Prohm is bringing in this guy to come in and launch threes, he obviously didn't learn from the Nixon experiment. There is no way Prohm is going to allow this guy to jack threes (and miss) if he'd come here.

Gomez did?

Those seem like Buggs numbers. He’s got other attributes that are sufficient. Are you applying the worst aspects of each player to the other?

So one guy is short, and the other not a good shooter? Hardly noteworthy. Spring recruiting is about adding fit as much as it is stars.

Unless I'm missing something looks to me like he's played 4 games against P5 teams during his career:

Freshman year: California 9-14
Sophomore year: Washington State 1-10
Junior year: Oregon State 6-16; Auburn 8-23

Total of 24/63 or 38%

I saw Zion Griffin trimmed his list down, does anyone have any insight on schools vying for Lewis's services?

Ya I think you might be confusing Buggs and Gomez
