Not exactly sure.
My point was just that there are a number of “essential” businesses that continue to function that IMHO are decidedly not. With the exception of federally exempted essential businesses (not sure which all those are) I’m assuming Reynolds could shut more down if she wanted to.

Not trying to argue, and don’t really care what they want to call it, just get it done. Although there most likely is some degree of movement that would be reduced with a formal order.

Hobby Lobby’s are closing so there is a bigger one. Per the porn shops, I can’t speak how many are in them. Haven’t been in one since college and the 1-2 times I was there were only a couple other people besides the group I was in. Maybe millennials flock to them, I will defer to someone in that age group because I have no idea.

What's your point?

1. I don't agree that Romantics is essential, but I would also venture that there is never more than 5 people in there at one time so I don't see it as a huge issue.

2. Car dealerships will not be closed under a shelter in place as they are deemed essential by Homeland Security.

3. Those fabric stores are open under the guise that they are selling fabric for masks. So with a SIP they will still be open.

I am neither for or against a SIP in place because essentially we are operating under a SIP without it being called that. In fact we have more restrictions than some places that are in a SIP.

So my stance is who the hell cares if we say there is a SIP because we've pretty much closed all non-essential businesses.

That it’s not the same? Those are not the only businesses affected. You can keep arguing that it’s close all you want but it still won’t make it the same.

Needs to come up with new, creative ways to answer the same questions.

Reynolds on 4/4/2020 - "Hey you can get a good look at your butcher.........You want to talk about Shelter in Place, chicken wings. Think about this for a second, why would someone issue a SIP? Hmmmm very interesting. Here's the way I see it, they put a SIP in place because they want you to feel all toasty inside, you figure you put that SIP under your pillow the SIP fairy might come by an leave a quarter. The point is how do you know the SIP isn't some crazy glue sniffer, "Shelter in place" says the little fairy. But I'm not buying it. He sneaks into your house once and that's all it takes, next thing you know you lose your job and your daughters got Covid 19, I've seen it a hundred times. If you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it "Shelter in Place" I will I've got spare time, but it isn't going to change the restrictions I already have in place. So for now for the community's sake, for your daugther's sake just follow the restrictions I have in place."

Death rate went up a lot last week bc its all the folks on Vent for past 30 days...THe more drug combos are used the fewer deaths we will see.

6000 people die every day in the US...Every day. How many of those COVID pts were over 75 with late stage cancer...Heart failure...pneumonia...COPD...Severe diabetes...etc..?

Not minimizing it just that losing 2500 a month in entire country over a disease is not shocking.

Wait until we can finally have Serology testing for antibodies available or at home tests.. Death rate will be under 0.5%..

pretty sure deaths are over 5000 in less than a month.

Just a side note, you know she had a degree from ISU don’t you? Or are you saying that an ISU degree equates to a CC degree?

while im not entirely positive, and please correct me if im wrong, i thought i had read that her degree from isu was an ‘honorary degree’ and that she had never actually completed her coursework through isu

The only one of the 3 that you listed that isn't listed as a federal essential business is the porn store and I agree that it shouldn't be open.

My point is to many people say that business isn't essential because they think it shouldn't be but in fact it is on the federal list of essential business. And so far every state that has a shelter in place is using that list, and in fact most states are adding to that list to exempt business not covered by it.

What industry is currently operating that will be closed under a SIP?

Do those 6,000 deaths include bodies being thrown into the back of semi trucks? So you think that more deaths a day is OK? 1200 deaths in the US yesterday. That's the highest reported total in a day in the world. There's continuing stories of it happening to younger people, and it's also OK to give a **** about the elderly.

We're going to be looking at minimum 3,000 deaths a day for about a month the way things are going. That will include hospitals swamped, lacking supplies, and not able to provide proper care to people that otherwise had a better chance with timely ventilation or treatment, or finding out if they had it early to start treating it properly.

And when do you expect those antibody tests to be available? What if someone doesn't have the antibodies? They're still in danger. Do you think people with at home tests are going to self quarantine if they don't feel symptoms?

This kind of logic, is absolutely, 100%, minimizing it, and it's dangerous.

I have no idea what that is

It's a podcast where they rewatch and review old movies, background/casting info on the movie, actors' careers since then, etc. Pretty entertaining.

Just yesterday they did Tommy Boy. I figured maybe you'd heard it and that quote was fresh in your mind.

I can understand having the service side open, but would think the sales side would be restricted. Like car shopping by appointment only, or limiting the number of people in showrooms.

you would think, but it is not. I have 4 car dealership clients, all have contacted the DOT and said they are considered essential and can remain open if they want.

I figured that was an assumption at this point. There's going to be more infected people than we know about, and possibly a few deaths slipping under the radar at times as well. The kicker to watch with the tests we have now seems not to be the number of positives, but rather the rate of positives (which so far has hung around 7% pretty consistently).

Most recent data is showing 50% of positives were completely asymptomaic. That is relying partially on China’s data though so take it for what it’s worth. How that affects those people’s immunity isn’t clear. They obviously have some antibodies though so it’s better than not having been exposed and no vaccine available. There is empirical data showing a reinfection rate of approximately 10% with those cases presenting with minor symptoms.
