Going into post season, who is the best wrestler not to ever All American.

Tanner Weatherman comes to mind. Was he a 4 time Round of 12 guy?
Was very disappointed for him, when he lost to David McFadden (a true Frosh for VT) in the blood round after beating him a couple times during the season.

Mitch Mueller is another one that comes to mind off the top of my head.

Tanner Weatherman would probably be at the top of my list. Andrew Sorenson would have to be up there too. I thought he had a good chance at reaching the finals his senior year before he got injured.

I remember he sprained his ankle and wrestling the Wisconsin kid and could barely stand

I believe Bill Tate was seeded #1 at NCAA tourney and was knocked out in opening round by UNI wrestler. He also soundly beat Royce Alger at one point in his career.

Chris Spangler. Had so much talent and maybe could have won it all at 174 one year but for injuries.

Probably not in the running for "best ever" but Gabe Moreno was really getting it going his RSo year before hurting his shoulder. #9 seed at Nationals that year but he really had no business being on the mat.

Never the same after that.

Andrew Sorensen was a beast. He beats the guy Cael was recruiting in the HS finals match to get on Cael's radar. Then builds himself into a contender from a expected depth guy. IIRC His senior year he was a clear #2 behind David Taylor. He got hurt in big 12 or first round of NCAAs. I really believe that he could have hung with DT.

Wasn't all of Spangler's injuries, concussions? And had to finally give up wrestling because of them?
That’s my recollection. I’m pretty sure he was rated no 1 in the Nation for a time before he had to leave the sport.

T. Weatherman and Sorenson. Didn’t think Spangler was ranked that high. Memory could be off though.

Actually, he hurt his ankle warming up on a Stationary bike the morning before his first match. Still not sure that happened.
