This is a fairly big deal considering some of the southern schools, no?
Probably not the advantage that it is in the outdoor season. Not just because of the weather but also due to the events run. The Big 12 indoor meet had races at 600yd, 800m, 1000m, mile, 3k and 5k plus a distance medley. ISU cleaned up on those races plus picked up key points in several field events and hurdles.
ISU scored in 11 of the 19 events, TTU scored in 17 of them.
ISU is VERY good at what it focuses on. We will score a lot at outdoors but probably end up in 3rd. That said, I never count Martin Smith out.
Men will have several opportunities to score at NCAA's in a few weeks. If things break well, a top10 finish is possible.
Women did well today also getting 4th and will have Callie Logue at NCAA's in two weeks.
The dude rocking the denim shirt and black cowboy hat a conference track meet is my new favorite ISU athlete and I don’t even know his name.
A conference championship is always a big deal no matter what the sport. Congrats to the team!
It’s a pretty big deal because we pretty much suck at the major sports.
ESPN/Big 12 now did a pretty good job IMO. Fun to watch it after being there. If they do the same quality with the others it will be quite pleasing. It is hard to find PxP for events like that where people won't complain, it is hard to broadcast these sports and this crew was solid and researched.
