I didn't either but I read an article saying that Saul mentions Lalo in season 2 of Breaking Bad I think. So I'm just making the assumption he doesn't die but I could be wrong.

Prequels are confusing because we keep getting mixed up over people and events from BB versus BCS. For example, Sunday night my wife said, "Hey, didn't that guy die?" And I had to think about it and finally figured out, yeah he died, but he died in BB and this is BCS which is BEFORE that. But, not complaining, just glad the show is back!
