Who Should we hire After Prohm if he left after this year or next?

  • After Iowa State won the Big 12, a Cyclone made a wonderful offer to We Will that now increases our match. Now all gifts up to $400,000 between now and the Final 4 will be matched. Please consider giving at We Will Collective.

Track staff his top 7 highest paid in country
track is a net loss for any university

opening the checkbook for a revenue generating sport will work, Jamie.
True but it’s cheaper to have a head coach for the entire track program. Pollard has yet to truly open the checkbook for an incoming coach in the revenue generating sports to date.

Jon Scheyer.

Won 2010 Nat’l title playing at Duke. Won 2015 Nat’l title coaching at Duke. Coach K disciple, obviously. Currently the Associate Head Coach at Duke. Only 32 years old. From Illinois. Really good recruiter. Really smart, uses analytics. Steal him away and get him a great contract before Coach K retires and they promote him. He’s going to be a star in the college coaching ranks whenever he finally gets a head coaching gig.

Bump.

Do people realize the amount of the buyout to fire the guy?

19-20 $6.3 million
20-21 $5.1 million
21-22 $ 3.8 million
22-23 $2.6 million
23-24 $1.3 million

He's got 2 years to right the ship if not more. Settle down people.

Pollard was going to keep McDoormat around. Prohm can avoid making the NCAA tournament for the next 10 years and not have any worries about his job status.

IDK Campbell is inching up towards $4 mil, huge success next season and I bet he makes right around that.

Campbell didn’t get that when he was coming from Toledo. It’s why I said incoming.
We didn't really have the resources to do that until the last few years, and that is mostly due to TV money partnered with Campbell's success. I'm not a big fan of JP but I do think he should get credit where it's due. I'm not really happy about this huge $110 mil Power and Light DIstrict knock off if we are going to lack the monetary agility to solve problems before we can manifest said bold plan.

Didn't Pollard originally offer a small extension without a raise after last season? If so it's looking like he should have stuck to his guns.

Random follow up. Would anyone give back the big 12 tourney championship if it meant no extension for Steve and active search for a new coach happening this year.

$5m is pocket change in big time college athletics. If we want to be a big time program, going to have to write some checks to get where we want to go.

That entirely depends on who the new coach ended up being. If we assume it’s Otz then heck no. If we assume that it’s a legit coach, heck yes.
