I think it's pretty clear the gap at several weights (33, 74, HWT) has closed considerably as the season has gone on. And Degen can and has beat Lugo. Betting against Parker is stupid. If any of those matches happen at nationals, they will be great matches and I would not feel all warm and cozy as a hawk fan.

And 157. I said it’s Carr’s weight when he gets back into the lineup.

You’re going to have to explain your reasoning to me on the other weights:

133- Small lost by Major against DeSanto & has 7 losses to DeSanto’s 1 loss.
149- Degen is 0-2 against the state. Currently he should be 3rd on the depth chart here.
184- Lujan beat both teams starters. Not much else to argue here.
285- Cassioppi is sliding because he had the #1 and #2 wrestlers back-to-back? Did we forget about his 6-0 shutout against Gremmel?

The hate that @CyTwins has for DeSanto is crazy.

Desanto has some serious issues. I'd take a less skilled guy out there if it meant he wouldn't give up 6. If Gomez was healthy this wouldn't even be a conversation

Degen is better than Lugo

I'm only doing an Iowa vs Iowa State team. If Colbray was still up it would obviously be him

I mean Gremmel is the better freestyle wrestler between him and Cass, that's for sure. Folkstyle is debatable

Because ISU rankings have gone up doesn’t necessarily mean the gaps have closed. DeSanto has been top-3 all year, Kemerer went from #3 to #1, and Cassioppi has been #3 the majority of the year.

Can you imagine if someone actually believed that Small, Colbray, & Gremmel we’re actually on the same level as DeSanto, Kemerer, & Cassioppi? Thanks for the chuckle, I know you’re not serious about them.

I am aware of Iowa's rankings. So the gap hasn't closed because..... what?

Who said Colbray was better than Kem?

So this is just personal preference and not who’s best, got it.

Degen is better than Lugo
This year Degen is 0-2 against Lugo and Thomsen so apparently not.

I'm only doing an Iowa vs Iowa State team.
So this isn’t an “All-Iowa team”?

133 (beyond laughable)
141 (Argument could be made)
149
184 (No debate with ISU's current 184 pounder)
HWT

133 - Small doesn't give up 6 to RBY. Wouldn't even be a debate if Gomez was healthy

141 - Parker is way better

149 - Degen is better than Lugo

184 - open

HWT - Gremmel would tech Cass in freestyle. Cass is in a tailspin currently so it's a toss-up folkstyle

The double down is always a lot better than the original. This is great. Thanks for a good laugh.

Why would anyone think this is an "All Iowa team" thread when it's clearly labeled Iowa/ISU lol

Nothing that has happened this year shows me that any of them are closing the gaps on the Hawks at those weights. If the dual was today I would expect similar results to the dual in November. Major for DeSanto (maybe tech) and lobsided decision for Cass. Haven’t seen Kem vs Colbray, but Brands beat him and other than Colbray’s win against Steiert, doesn’t have much else

Behind you
125- Lee
133- Desanto
141- Parker
149- Lugo (Would pick Degen if he was healthy)
157- Carr
165- Marinelli
174- Kem
184- Lujan

41 is a coin toss, I think a healthy Murin is better but I get ISU fans sticking up for Parker. 149 seems pretty clear, a healthy Degen already lost to Lugo, and Lugo's beaten two top-10 guys since barely losing in SV to Sasso. Would be interested in what the serious argument for Degen there is. Agree with a healthy Carr at 57. Young looked great against Lewan but wasn't happy with his Minney win and knows he needs to step it up.
