Deal with the Devil: To choose one of the following is to agree to terms that the other will never happen.

Pollard's new entertainment district -or- a football national championship?

No brainer on this one football national championship. The entertainment thing is cool but there are lots of places to eat and stay in Ames.

How close were Dan McCarney, Gene Chizik, or Paul Rhoads to getting over the hump?

What do you think our record would have been this year if Cam Lard and either Wigginton or THT would have come back?

I actually think Gene and Mac (again) could have eventually gotten over the hump. Neither nowhere near Campbell has us now, but back to some bowl games, which we all would have been thrilled with at the time. It was blatantly obvious that Rhoads had driven any momentum the program had after 2012, off a cliff.

Mac's 2005 team should of gone like 10-2.

Agree. But that's never happened in Iowa State football history so I think a majority of the fan base were happy with 7-5, despite a lot being left on the plate.
Not really, that was the moment that to steal a term from Pollard that MAC could no longer “sell hope.” Everyone knew if he couldn’t get it elevated with that team, he never was going to. That year got him fired just as much as the next.
